In the context of Japan this is not a 'minor incident.'

Japan is so safe and stable that this kind of minor incident makes a national headline and everyone suddenly becomes criminal psychologists and gives their unsolicited opinions on the possible cause of these incidents.

Now yer talkin Rod! Yea! But lets go for big game first!

@Rodney

Metal detectors, and body searches on entry to school. Child rapists should never be allowed to use toilets without a GPS tracker or security guard present. Facial recognition and AI cameras should track all child rapists movements.

stay safe out there kids.

Japan is safe if you are a middle aged man. However, if you are a child, a woman or elderly (or a combination of those) it is no safer than any other country, except maybe Somalia.

I can guess what a woman child is. Just look at the females on FOX and those in the GOP. But, what’s an elderly child? To be serious though, just don’t let your guard down, even if you’re in a “safe” location.

Still a rare occurrence but in any case good guns are difficult to access here

Second in a week. Japanese media still cannot connect their obsessive reporting of events like this and so called copycat events, triggered by their irresponsible coverage. The ‘I just wanted to see what it was like to kill someone’ fetish is amplified and given legitimacy by the media here. And moderator, this, like my previous comment on the teacher event, is not off topic.

The arts have a most important role to play in all schools. Pupils and students who daily express their feelings in the playing of a musical instrument, in singing, in art in writing and in dance, etc. are happy individuals who would never hurt or kill anyone with a knife or gun.

too many psychopaths

Usually, psychopath parents who encourage their kids to be violent and attack other kids. Given the age of the child, parents should be taken fully responsible and locked up in jail at least for some years.

It does seem there has been a shift in the social climate in Japan regarding indiscriminate random attacks.

The wrong headline alone gives you the full hint. They’ve not been classmates but only visited the same school and learned in the same room. The school and teachers have failed to make them classmates.

Don't worry, it's coming soon....for everyone. Get ready for the new world order courtesy of global elites and a populace goaded into acquiescence by fear. May God protect us from evil doers like this student AND such proposed solutions.

What is going on with " ... I want to kill anyone!" trend here in Japan?

I think not only in Japan but in many countries Covid effected negatively to children and teens mind.

You gotta feel for this generation of teenagers. Raised on junk food both physical and psychological in a secular, materialistic and cold society. Such incidents are not surprising.
