When I was a teenager I was creating explosives and blowing them up for fun, but I would never admit it in public now. Why can't we hear from the kid's side of things?
Ah_so
Teenager makes explosives, a gun and narcotics. Sounds like a very enterprising young man.

Anybody already could. Security by obscurity is not security.

Okay, so hang on... hang on...
The age of adulthood in Japan is now 18, but this guy is a minor. He's being criminally charged, which you can only do with an adult, but his name is being withheld because at 19, he's an adult legally, but still somehow a minor?
sensei258
Will this set a precedent of charging minors like adults in other crimes
Do the hustle
3-6 years in prison is hardly an adult penalty for domestic terrorism.
This is is a really stupid thing in Japan. At 18 years old they are old enough to vote, which makes them an adult, but they are not old enough to drink, smoke or be charged in an adult court. It makes me believe, the only reason they changed this law was to give Abe and his cronies a wider scope of naive voters.

Sounds like a budding entrepreneur or SDF candidate to me!

Silly boy, doesn't he know guns and drugs are the police and yakuza's business.
They've been doing it for a while. Wasn't a convicted murderer hanged last year for a crime he committed as a minor?

Sounds like he wasn't treated as an adult:

This kid could be the next Elon Musk but is going to be thrown in jail because he made things that were 'scary'.

He also made a 3D-printed gun around September 2017 and stimulant drugs in August 2018...
Stimulant drugs can be made with a 3d printer?

Damn, I wasn't done with my thought...
I mean, we discovered a lot of geniuses in the past because they accidentally blew something up or did something dangerous. Now we punish them.

Thanks for telling us all the name of the explosive precursor. Now anybody can google it and visit the home center, drug store etc. and pop down to the park.

Instead of punishment the authorities should impose some kind of permit system including responsibilities. This will do nothing to stop development and advancement of knowledge and experience. We need more imagination in the police department. This country loves licenses. Apply it more openly rather than oppress.
