This cult shouldnt be the only one that is ordered to disband. All religious cults in Japan should have their special status revoked. This group is only "negatively" affecting the people because of all the press surrounding it in the aftermath of Abe's assassination, and thankfully the spotlight has been finally shown on them and their activities. BUT the disbanding should be for ALL, not just this cult.

All religions depend upon their members to support them in some manner or another, most financially. Some DEMAND tithes, a form of blackmail, for someone to join or maintain their membership.

I do not agree that all religions are cults. It is impossible to ban religions. Other organisations like charities and NPOs are also exempt from taxes. There are also foundations.

It doesn't surprise me at all. Aum also had links to the LDP, mainly through Shintaro Ishihara and his people. And in light of the Moonies' scandal, the last thing the LDP wants is for the public to know about their ties to Aum. I'm guessing that's why they are disposing of these documents now. That would be my guess.
