A Tokyo Metro employee has been arrested by police after it was revealed he had secretly been taking videos up women's skirts at stations and in train cars.

According to police, the 38-year-old electrician was originally arrested for taking upskirt videos near Shibuya's scramble crossing on Aug 26, Fuji TV reported. A subsequent investigation revealed that he had taken similar videos at Tokyo metro stations and train cars.

it seems more like a crowd mentality, they keep hearing bout people doing it so cant resist the temptation. maybe in couple years they will start selling custom shoes ( if not already ) women will have a choice to either show or wear hot-pants..

might be helpful to economy by encouraging women to buy nicer undies n all ;-)

You guys are just going to have to go out there and take your own pics, I guess.

Don't be an enabler!

There is a limitless amount of pornography online (limitless in that you'd die of old age before you'd seen it all with the rate it's added to), of any and every kind.

Why does this even happen?

How do ya think they produce some of those, haha!

Two apps, Manner Cam, and Manner Vid do not make sounds. I am sure they must be using those.

I really don't get it. What else can you see there except for panties? Panties from that angle aren't even arousing. They must surely be sexually unsatisfied if even such tiny things turn them on. And what's more, a metro employee. Oh wow.

Japan is a very strange place for sure! One day we read about how women in japan can not getr men to date,or at the least, find men to ask them for a date....On another day we read that many men in japan are obsessed with the idea of upskirt photography. I don't get the facination these men have with panty photos?????? Maybe it's just a passing fad or something but at any rate this is very odd behavior, grown men acting like grade school children. It just seems to me that if theses upskirt Idiots would grow a set of nuts(Ask for a few dates) they would have access to what is under the panties...smoething far more enjoyable to say the least.

JT should stop putting these stories in the "Crime" section and just start an "Upskirt" section for all of the corporate leaders, bureaucrats, and other "public servants" who go to extremes to see a woman's underwear as if it will lead to anything other than their own self-abuse. These stories are pushing all the other crime stories off the front page.

That's funny to imagine fightingviking,

Most men would probably enjoy women trying to see their crotch. Probably wouldn't want photos taken, tho.

You guys are just going to have to go out there and take your own pics, I guess. Then we can read about you in the news. Just don't forget to say "I'm oberst/lostrune on jt forums" so we can know it's you!

Another one; yet we still don't have picture of a one. Something's amiss!

@Frungy

I've worn a kilt before and I was always careful to make sure it was long enough to not offend those around me by showing my underwear

You mean you actually wear underwear under your kilt ? I've always heard that was a "no-no" !

If there's no pic, it didn't happen......................

2 ( +2 / -0 )

I think they (jt) are just giving us extra storeis about it because they prove so popular.

I think this happens with relative frequency. Some are reported, some not. JT decides how many of the reported ones to run. Otherwise slow news day? Or like I said, cuz everyone seems to enjoy commenting on them?

2 ( +3 / -1 )

The real issue here is not the recent frequency of up-skirters getting caught, but rather why JT decides to run these stories and give them such prominence.

zenkanSep. 02, 2012 - 11:10AM JST It is no use blaming either smartphones or the length of clothing - the fault lies with the people taking the photos.

... logically this doesn't make sense. I'm imagining a proper length skirt (down to the knees) and trying to figure out how you'd get enough light to snap a picture of anything other than darkness.

No, part of the blame here does lie with women who wear skirts that are short enough to allow light (and people's eyes) to fall on their underwear. I've worn a kilt before and I was always careful to make sure it was long enough to not offend those around me by showing my underwear (there's a Queen on the throne). It's just common courtesy.

I'm not excusing the criminal behaviour of the individuals taking the photos, but it would be sheer insanity to not point out that it is extremely rude to wear a skirt short enough to display one's underwear. Bad manners like that cannot be excused.

I mean this in no derogatory way, but some Japanese have extremely rich fantasy lives. Apparently such photos are all that's needed to set them off on their own magical mystery tour.

Hahahaha Okay show us the beef.... hehehehe

"There is a serious logical disconnect. Anyone care to explain?"

No disconnect. Men are universally interested in sex and women's bodies. Japanese men are the same - but some are married and are sexless and others are too timid to find someone to have sex with. So they do other stuff. That's my theory anyway.

And I've never even thought of it. I'm starting to feel abnormal.... Maybe I should get my testosterone levels checked?

Third day in a row. Quite the nation.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

So reading random English language Japan newspapers, people in Japan are not getting their freak on. But they are peeking up skirts and other inappropriate behavior enough that it makes the papers.

There is a serious logical disconnect. Anyone care to explain?

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Is three in a row bingo? This is getting a bit ridiculous. At least this one is in a new week.

I really don't get the deal with up skirts, either. However, I was told by a friend once to not even try to understand it. Weird culture here; especially with police and teachers.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Guess there should be an up skirt pic or voyeur section in all the dailies here.

No you have to buy the sports newspapers or weeklies to see that!

This guy's mental balance sheet needs an overhaul.

blame the smart phones folks. While the older ketais emit a snap sound when filming or taking photos (which you can circumvert with the use of headphone) but the newer models from abroad don't have such restrictions so it is more tempting to use them plus the better video and photo quality. But what's with the fixation with undies? I don't get it.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Well, it seems like everyone else is doin it.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

It's just so weird there are so many of these people. What is this, the third one this week?

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Not surprised though. It happens all the time. And I guess the main reason is that skirts have become shorter and shorted every school year ;-)

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

Haha, another one... is this activity part of the school curriculum or something?
