The contract could constitute bribery as the 78-year-old was deemed a quasi-civil servant and not permitted to accept money or gifts related to his duties.

Mori got 1$million USD that have never been explained either. Like all organized criminal enterprises best way to stop them is follow the money.

As soon as I read he used to work for Dentsu, you know he is crooked and this was some type of bribery.

Quasi civil servants, running a quasi-Olympics.

Why should anyone be surprised someone, somewhere, made money off of it!

Besides the quasi-organizing committee and the quasi-Olympics themselves, that is!

That's amakudari.

After Olympics now more briberies and corruptions discovery are emerging,

This took long enough to come out

13 ( +14 / -1 )

Endless corruption, endlessly.

I don't even bat an eyelash anymore. I expect corruption here EVERYTHING from the Olympics to Abe's funeral is all about corruption. You just tune it out now. there's nothing anyone can do as the LDP is the CCP of Japan.

EVERYTHING is Quasi here. Everything.

What a surprise, yet more corruption - and a direct link to Dentsu no less.

Power corrupts, Japanese power corrupts absolutely.

Tell ya, those brown envelopes are getting bigger and bigger.

But all it will take (as usual) is a 5 second deep bow, "moshiwakearimasen" or whatever and let the "same games" begin.

This sort of news makes China look like a role model.

-4 ( +8 / -12 )

That’s all! I would have expected much more! Even corruption is taking a beating in this Covid-economy.

0 ( +7 / -7 )

To no one surprise, almost every Olympic is stained with scandals which goes against the very spirit of the games.

From briberies to pay offs it just seems as if the whole operation is run by mobsters.

5 ( +10 / -5 )

Oh what a surprise! Oh that was really surprising to hear! Oh watta news!

-7 ( +5 / -12 )

I'm shocked - shocked - to learn that there is the faintest whiff of suspicion about corruption in the JOC/IOC/Dentsu cabal.

Luckily, the books were closed a couple of weeks ago, so no more of this will ever be proved or disproved.

Taxpayers of Japan, tell your grandchildren that you are grateful for their largesse in paying for this runny-jumpy show which happened against the will of 80% of Japanese people long before they were even born.

Stop the Sapporo Olympics! Do not kid yourself it will be "sustainable" or "small scale" or whatever nonsense they tell you. It will be your (our) tax money pumped into an event where only people like this man benefit.

11 ( +13 / -2 )

Bribes from the Olympics.

What a shocker.

I cannot believe it.

It is hot today.

-4 ( +5 / -9 )

The keyword here is "Dentsu"...

6 ( +10 / -4 )

Cronyism and "Wa" at its corruptest.

-1 ( +7 / -8 )

How about to make a new law. If you are over 70yrs you can’t be convicted of bribery, under 70yrs, you have to self isolate at home for one year?

1 ( +5 / -4 )

No fine , no police coming to take him to custody for investigation ?

Crooked country and paradise for the well connected.

3 ( +9 / -6 )

They should have a referendum on this, oh that’s right NO it’s not tax payers who make decisions …to do that you have to a history of corruption and be at least 70 yo. And be a long standing member of the LDP.

-1 ( +5 / -6 )

Not much of a investigation if the suspect is purely on a volunteer basis.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

Is anyone surprised? Nah, thought not.

0 ( +7 / -7 )

This is par for the course for the Olympic Games and World Cup, etc. No surprises here.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Is anyone surprised? Probably just the tip of the iceberg and you can bet corrupt oyajis in Sapporo are already buying up land, bribing officials, and getting construction contracts for the 2030 Games.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

Those news are surebets. You could even adjust the time of your clock or wristwatch with them. lol

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

This sort of news makes China look like a role model.

In China the CCP controlled the Olympics along with media and information so it's highly doubtful truths would be known by the general public, unless the highest level politicians wanted to burn someone who did something that did not benefit the ruling caste.

He’s only one a few that have been caught. It is highly likely there are many more who have not been caught, yet.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Not surprised - Japan is rife with corruption, Olympics, Nissan, etc. etc.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

He did, he bagged his Loot and then he said his peace… Im' so sori- not sorry!
