Mark:
It is unusual here among JT commenters to praise Japanese prosecutores.
JTC
The way to do business in Japan is clearly, by providing a Gift/Bribe.

@Gill
It is only illegal if you get caught within 3 years... Statue of limitations.

When this news broke I said "Follow the money trail" those involved will tell on others to save their own souls!

It is surprising what skills you can learn from working at Dentsu.
Legrande
"Aoki the company that makes cheap suits" lol
Mark
Glad to see the Japanese prosecutors hard at work.
Hideomi Kuze
Who urged Takahashi to become chief of Tokyo Olympic bid committee was Shinzo Abe.
Takahashi denied it at first because "I don't want to be arrested".
But, Abe answered "It's all right. I defend you surely to you will be never arrested".
Third arrest to Takahashi at the same day of illegal state funeral for Abe.
Abe who repeated falsehood hundreds times only at the Diet told falsehood also about Olympic 2020 such as "situation is under control" about Fukushima nuclear disaster or "Reconstruction Olympic" that just delayed reconstruction actually.

Exactly
THIS!! You can't tell me that Muppet's hands are not as dirty as those arrested!
Sigh- if only.. nope I'm afraid they'll gloss over all of this and go on with the games anyway, AND THEN when THEY are finished and only then will any investigation start into the corruption there.
Indeed!!

Unfortunately, the Olympic Games are all about this now: big money above and below the table.
blahblah222
So basically everyone getting into trouble except for Dentsu and the Olympic officials receiving the money.

Can I have this in official writing please? While its good to see (a few of) those who acted nefariously over Tokyo be taken down, the most important thing is just for this fascination with the Olympics to stop. Enough already.
Sanjinosebleed
And yet as "determined" as prosecutors are they still haven't arrested Mori!!! I guess his lame excuse that he couldn't remember about the couple of million he received was enough

This is only the tip of the iceberg. Japan is run on gift money and has been for centuries. The Japanese 'bushido' code of honor should be changed to 'bullshido'.
Nemo
He’s been re-re-re-arrested!
Fighto!
Rotten to the core. People need jailing over this.
The Sapporo winter Games bid is dead and buried. There is no way it can present a realistic bid with the Tokyo 2021 cesspit sill continuing.
Michael Machida
Keep them coming!

The Los Angeles 1984 Olympics made a profit. Hold the games in a city where infrastructure and sports expertise already exists.
HBJ
It certainly was. Nobody knew that a brown envelope could contain so much paper.
virusrex
This assumes the IOC would give any importance to the arrests, seeing how it has been accused of similar problems and that it has decided to hold the games in countries with even more serious problems this may not even be a negative development for the bidding.
Rodney
Still haven’t heard anything recently about the taxpayers $3.7million bribe paid to offshore accounts to a Sengalese Olympic official to secure Japan’s bid.
Laila Kholoussi
And don't forget the fourth bribery case, the toy company. Another 're-arrest' coming!
MarkX
Oh, so now that it is one of their own, it is hostage justice. But when it was Carlos Ghosn and Greg Kelly, that was just business as usual.
I hope they re-arrest him every month until all 50 companies that probably bribed him are indicted and then he is taken to court and found guilty!
serendipitous1
Three gold medals for dodgy.
