@kurisupisu: There are actually quite a number of rifles and shotguns registered in Japan. I've met a few people who own them - all legal, of course. It is not an easy process to do, but it is possible. The owner has to undergo training, pass a mental evaluation, and go through regular checks by the police of the guns, ammunition, how they are stored, etc.

Pistols on the other hand - only 50 licenses granted in japan - most all of them for people who compete in pistol shooting contests (like the Olympics). To get one of these licenses, someone has to give one up (or a license holder passes away so the license becomes available).

There’s no way no one noticed, no way in a million years. No one bothered to talk about it that’s all. Ignore it and it will go away. Standard delusional practice.

So he wanted to bring weapons into his boss office to get at his boss, and release his pent up anger and hate to relieve himself.

Now he has lost his job, and perhaps a whole lot more.

It has been reported in many stories how these bosses can be 5 star, a holes, and since this is a tiny country, with limited opportunities for changing jobs and locations for JNs particularly under the pandemic, economic slump, we may see more cases like this. In the US with a 14.7 % unemployment rate; the worst since the Great Depression, hence Toyota sales are very down now.

What kind of Shotgun? Was it an SKB ?

Apparently it was an SKB - 48 calibre.

He was clearly suffering from High Tension.

There is a lot of bullying in Japan, starting from early school life way up to the corporate life.

Many people do not have ways to vent their frustrations until the hell bursts.

In my opinion, this is one thing the Japanese government needs to address seriously and urgently before the situation reaches a melting point.

This guy and many others was probably persevering quietly to save/maintain his employment because of his family or the education of his kids.

Japanese soceity are usually docile and prefer to maintain status quo until pushed to the limits.

There is bullying in almost all sectors of soceity in Japan and I think this is the most dangerous enemy to Japan as a country.

No mention of whether it was loaded or not. That will give the Police a clear picture of his real intent. But not us. I guess this means a trawl through the J press.

Guns can be bought from stores in Japan legitimately, even in Shibuya, do some research , understand reality before living in shock and horror. You have to become a member of a hunting club or a shooting club etc and need a license but its not so hard if you want to go shooting.

There are a number of shooting clubs within easy reach of Tokyo.

Hand guns howver are a different story, ask me how I know.

Its not all about mad nuts running around with guns. But once in awhile some fool wants to make a point with a weapon that he cant actually get ammo for , as in this case it seems. Just another Loose cannon shall we say, impotent in this case..

@HBJ, you say its 48 call, either way he's in big trouble now, he should have left the office and thrown his gun in the RIVER! haha.

He was carrying a shotgun and in his bag was a knife with a blade measuring about 17 centimeters.

An employee called 110 and police detained Sato without any trouble. No injuries were reported at the scene.

That employee must be a bloody ninja. I am impressed! Rei.
