Good riddance.

Has he been fired? Or just “reprimanded?”

Was there any video evidence of this?

but also this…..why was this teenage girl, assuming she was between the ages of 13-17, but we wouldn’t know by reading this article. Alone on a train, that late on a SUNDAY night?

What? WHAT!?

Blimey. Don’t know where to start with that one.

Glad they caught him but I fear his punishment will not match his offense. A predatorial sexual assault on a minor carries a hefty jail sentence where I come from.

Teenage daughter on a train after midnight? Cram school?

Teenage daughter on a train after midnight? Cram school?

Who cares what she was doing. She was on the train, doesn't mean she should get sexually assaulted.

I can always count on the Japan Today comment section for victim-blaming. Who cares why she was on the train late? She could have been out committing crimes, but that doesn't mean she deserves to be sexually assaulted.

These comments are always so gross.

Well said, Takumi. I have noticed much the same. It's a problem that some people don't seem to notice that they always come out to blame the victims (directly or indirectly) whenever a sex crime is reported on here. For shame.

Throw him in jail and throw away the key. The poor girl. Can't even take public transport without getting sexually assaulted. What kind of world do we live in?

I thought teen meant 13-19 years old and 12:10 am on Sunday meant catching the last train on a Saturday night.

Excited to know what dumbass reason he will say for his behavior.

No profession is immune to the groping epidemic of Japan.

That's why I keep my daughters out of Japan. You might think, 'it's okay my daughter has never been groped', but how would you know? How many girls actually report this kind of embarrassing experience to anyone?

I absolutely agree!

I expect the steady comment “Japan is 100% safe. Safer than my country……”.

Japan is 100% safe if you are male. Not so safe if you are a girl. Perverts are present in any part of society, especially in key roles such as teachers and police (just search in the "Crime" section of Japan Today). Perverted behaviors are not hampered here and are, on the contrary, tacitly encouraged since girls are sexually exploited, even very young girls, in the Japanese entertainment industry (manga, anime, idols…..).

Japan is great for many things, but it is not a wonderland for girls.

I guess almost all the foreign residents in Japan come from the dangerous Narcos areas of Colombia, or the most infamous slums of their countries, since they always depict Japan as heaven and the world outside Japan as hell.

In the EU (where I come from), in NZ, in Australia (where I lived) it is more probable to be robbed while traveling on a train, but very very less probable to be sexually harassed.
