Train station employee, nabbed for taking upskirt film, causes delay due to being in custody

A 58-year-old male station employee for Kyoto Tango Railways (Tantetsu) was arrested this week for filming up a female junior high school student’s skirt. The suspect subsequently caused a 45-minute delay to train services when he failed to show up for work the next day and open the train station due to his being in custody.

According to police, Kazuo Onaka, who works at Mineyama Station in Kyoto Prefecture, was arrested on suspicion of disturbing the public peace just past 4 p.m. on April 30 at a shopping center in Kyotango City. Onaka is accused of using a miniature camera to film up a girl’s skirt.

Police said Onaka has admitted to the charge. Willer Trains Inc, the operator of Kyoto Tango Railways, said that Onaka failed to show up at work on May 1 because he was under arrest and had not informed them. The company became aware of Onaka’s arrest after receiving multiple calls from commuters just after 6 a.m., complaining that the information desk at Mineyama Station was not open.

Another employee was dispatched to Mineyama Station. Nevertheless, services were delayed for 45 minutes and six passengers reportedly boarded the train without buying tickets.

Spotted one of these creeps in junkado sannomiya, lost him on the escalator "security guard" and police were more interested in me and "why I'm making trouble."

The train delays isn't the story, it's the fact a sex offender was working at the station. It says a lot that the media and his employer are more concerned about the delays than the very likely possibility of other victims being out there.

What a demented world, the girls who peel the body on the beaches and want to send an idiot behind bars for "voyeurism", I say idiot because, if he wanted so much to see thongs, why the hell do not go to the beach? , since it is the best exhibition site in the world and nobody is going to imprison you for having a look.

I hope cockroaches do better than us, when they conquer the world.

juminRhee - Put Onaka in a skirt and let the victim take a picture up his?

Yeah, and then make him stare at every day the creep is in prison.

juminRhee, if that’s what’s the statute demands. The point I was trying to make was that it isn’t helpful to make stuff up.

The trains should have free!

Japan really has to change the laws for these upskirt perverts. Make it a mandatory three-year jail sentence. It’s much more than being a public nuisance. Creeps who do this are demented and delusional perverts. This girl was on junior high making her under 15 years old. That is an illness, not a hobby.

Whether that allegation against him is true or not, in Japan when they take you into their custody, nobody will know about your whearabout until several days, not your family nor your coworker. Only few officers know where you are.

No doubt he will lose his job for causing train delays. The other mentioned behaviour is of course, of secondary importance.

I sometimes get concerned at the language used in these stories. Putting the crime to one side for the moment, Onaka didn’t fail to show up for work, he was in custody and therefore prevented from going to work or even calling to inform the train company.

Onaka hasn’t been convicted yet. Despite his apparent confession, I trust the Police will present corroborating evidence to the court. If he isn’t convicted, Onaka’s has been ruined needlessly. If he is found guilty, let’s hope the punishment fits the crime.

...who works at Mineyama Station....

Soon to be "worked."

Seems the train delays are more important to mention than this pedophile behavior.

What a country ...
