Police in Miharu, Fukushima Prefecture, have arrested a 50-year-old unemployed man on suspicion of dangerous driving resulting in death after the small truck he was driving hit and killed a man and a woman.

According to police, Yoshitaka Morito, of no fixed occupation or address, has admitted to hitting the couple — a 55-year-old man and a 52-year-old woman — as they were cutting grass along the side of National Route 288 at around 7:55 a.m. Sunday, Sankei Shimbun reported. After hitting the couple, Morito kept going, police said.

Another worker witnessed the incident and called 110. Police said Morito, who does not have a license to drive a truck, was found four hours later about 20 kilometers away parked on a road in Sukagawa City.

Unemployed and not licensed for that vehicle. Not quite dark still at 7:55(?) p.m. Did he steal the truck? Was he intoxicated? Or was he just looking for a way to end up in jail for a free bed and meals?

Condolences to the family(ies) of the couple that were killed. Terrible to be taken out while just doing some gardening, or any time for that matter, for no apparent reason at all.

7:55 AM according to the article.

Or was he just looking for a way to end up in jail for a free bed and meals?

By deliberately running down two people?

Terrible to be taken out while just doing some gardening, .......

They were cutting grass at the side of a road, whether or not they were wearing Hi-Vis clothing, used warning signs or were actually on the highway has not been mentioned so, not being there to witness what happened I'll refrain from speculation.

Wanton disregard for the consequences of his actions. Who does he think he is, Donald Trump?
