One needs to wonder why so many people are willing to help Ghosen. People like Kentarogaijin don't even know the facts of the case and have Ghosen in jail before trial.

"I can't think of any other reason why Turkey is so invested in this"

Well, think about what they did ( land a plane in Turkey with false documents ) and imagine you are the "powerful" Erdogan...all the press coverage on Turkey / Lebanon, all the people asking how Carlos Ghosn was able to do it under Erdogan's nose. Ghosn didn't just humiliated the japanese police they showed how easy was to do whatever they wanted under Turkey's security vigillance then you will understand why they are going really harsh with everybody involved

Just my 2 cents

Is this Turkey's repayment to Japan for turning away Kurdish refugees and sending them back to an awaiting, angry Turkish government, or does Japan have some other sweetheart deal with Turkey we don't know about. Because I can't think of any other reason why Turkey is so invested in this, even charging flight attendants.

Not forgetting his pursuing of wanting to get Fiat on board of the conglomerate!

Was he for real? What possible advantage would that useless company bring to the table?

So glad that fell through.

Oh yeah Turkey pressurised by Japan, just to save face.

What nonsense.

I will however say the whole episode has made Nissan look terrible whether Ghosn is guilty or not.

Even if he is innocent of the crimes he's accused of, one things for sure, and that is, he may have been the one that saved Nissan from bankruptcy, but that transpired later on to his obsession of making Nissan the biggest car company on the planet, through mergers, tie ups, relentless pushing of sales at the expense of cheapening the brand.

I think he became a madman that list control. As a fan I'm glad he's gone. Thank you Carlos for saving Nissan but you undid your own good work. It was time you left.

I support Carlos because he is telling the truth abt nissan and japan. Why is turkey doing this action, is it a turkey & japanese political exchange ???. Whatever, carlos had done, he cannot have done without Japanese help inside nissan. I do not know carlos but carlos have all the cards. He just have to published in international press , all the datas that he had on nissan and no humans on earth will take sides with the japanese proshucutors or nissan. PLs remember carlos do not read & write japanese. if i was carlos, I will let the world decide. carlos should be given a medal of braveness for exposing the unfair japanese system. I do not belive a hostage system based on untruth is good for anyone in any country.

"This is the only way to get out of this very awkward situation they created here especially the need to keep otherwise harmless old people in detention."

Will never happen with a unwillingly culture reconfigured by the US.

"No executive leader nor intellect genius from outside wants to work in Japan." kudos!

-1 ( +9 / -10 )

Where is Japan going with this ? I still don't understand the logic behind.

Carlos guilty or not, If I were Japan Gov/Judicial/Police , I would drop charges, publicly apologize and pay damages to Carlos for troubles caused during detention. Also a promise for true decoupling of the Judicial and Police would be nice.

This is the only way to get out of this very awkward situation they created here especially the need to keep otherwise harmless old people in detention.

Would be the ultimate shame to Japan if Turkey drops charges against the suspects, and Lebanon reckons Ghosn as a political refugee.

Japan initially rushed to arrest and speedily prosecute Ghosn to save faces. Now, they lost faces so hard that they simply can’t recover. They showed the world that Japan is not an ideal place to park your money and house international companies. No executive leader nor intellect genius from outside wants to work in Japan.

Shinzo Abe’s dream of becoming Singapore or London is crushed.

@saitamajin @Peeping_Tom

Ghosn might not be a criminal.

If the basic human rights of the pursuing country are not guaranteed, then Ghosn will be considered a refugee, not a criminal.

This article is about Turkey, Turkish prosecutors and laws applying to employees of a Turkish airline who used thecompany aircraft ilegally. Yet people here are still going on about "Japanese prosecutors". Just can't move on. Ghosn is absolutely guilty of jumping bail. And if he were confident of proving his innocence at Court he would not have escaped. Only a guilty person jumps bail, and claiming inability to get a "fair trial" is a lame excuse lapped up by the J-Hating crowd. So cheer on this multi-millionaire who wasn't satisfied with his 8M salary and had to enage in games on the side. I'm sure the Turkish airline team were well compensated, cause I hear Turkish jails kind of suck badly.

He wasn’t proven guilty of his Nissan misconduct but he did skip bail and leave the country. For that he is a criminal.

9 ( +16 / -7 )

The world has to deal with this life threatening virus! It’s over and let’s move on...unbelievable!!!

-6 ( +9 / -15 )

Unless all members of the escape team became instant millionaires after this, Ghosn needs to be the one now to support the coyotes. You can't ride off into the sunset when people that helped you get to that point are behind bars.

26 ( +29 / -3 )

Ghosn, (anti-Japanism" apart) has committed an offence, therefore he's a criminal.

He was not proven guilty, yet. There has been no trial yet. Or are you subscribing to the "prove your innocence" idea?

-4 ( +15 / -19 )

Does anyone really think and or believe that the Japanese Government and or Police did not know that Ghosen was leaving the country?

-8 ( +7 / -15 )

Sure.... you can bet a few Turkish politicians were well compensated by the Japanese Government in order to get this done.

-6 ( +13 / -19 )

Japan's so cold justice got exposed to the entire world for what it really is.

The cooperation between prosecutors and the Judges is outrageous, and can't be called justice....

The judge who is told by the prosecutors what to do, but ignores the difference, instructs the jury as to what to think is a display of utter injustice.

Members of the public tell me "we are not legal experts so we need a judge to tell us what to do" isn't that the whole point of a jury? Can't you think for yourself as to what is right or wrong?

There is a name for all this 'Kangaroo court'

-3 ( +16 / -19 )

Hey Japan, you're still not going to get Ghosn. This is hopefully just something to show that Turkey "cares" but they all get acquitted.

-8 ( +14 / -22 )

I am glad he got away.

-1 ( +21 / -22 )

Gotta love how desperate are the Japanese prosecutors.

I'll laugh so much wen Kelly gets aquainted this summer. They have been postponing the trial to save face, same as Ghosn trial.

"It's over"

Try telling that to the Americans; they're still looking for the Alcatraz escapees.

Intending to bring them to trial.

The Statute of Limitations is not applicable here.

Ghosn, (anti-Japanism" apart) has committed an offence, therefore he's a criminal.

Covid-19 or no Covid.

A criminal will remain one until his sentence is served, pardoned or cleared of all the charges.

If he dies as a criminal, he'll be a deceased criminal.

Dura Lex Sed Lex.

-5 ( +20 / -25 )

Oh, come on. Just stop worrying about that guy and deal with COVID-19.

It's over.

Part 2 of the Serious Crime Act 2007 (UK Legis, but I "suspect" Turkey won't be any different) creates, at sections 44 to 46, three inchoate offences of intentionally encouraging or assisting an offence.

So yeah; I believe that.

In this case, it's snitching.

-11 ( +10 / -21 )

"The two flight attendants are accused of failing to report a crime. Can you believe that?"

I can.

Skipping Bail is a crime.

Aiding and abetting, a party to it may be liable for an offence.

I am sure this happened at the request of the Japanese government as they really lost face when Carlos got away.

9 ( +26 / -17 )

And the flight attendants? What the hell for?
