Police on Thursday arrested a TV journalist for flashing a woman on the street in the upscale Omotesando area of Tokyo. Mitsunori Shimamoto, 29, who is a crime reporter for TV Asahi, was arrested after he approached the woman and allegedly unzipped his pants in front of her just after midnight.

According to police, the woman, in her 20s, alerted police who were patrolling nearby. Police say that Shimamoto was not drunk but on duty at the time of his arrest, and that a TV Asahi car was waiting nearby for him.

According to TV Asahi, Shimamoto has been assigned to the Tokyo Metropolitan Police department and the Tokyo District Court since 2002. A spokesperson for TV Asahi said: “We are very sorry that one of our staff was arrested for such an act.”

I love the part about the company car waiting nearby. What did he tell the driver? "Hang on. I've got something to do. I'll be back in a jiffy."

he was on duty??? just what story was he working on - getting reactions of women to flashing??? just plain disgusting. it also seems to me that "a TV Asahi car was waiting nearby.." means that there was/were accomplice(s)???

Must have been a slow "crime day," thus he literally made his own story. I actually heard there were 2 women who saw him commit this act. It is pretty serious, one of the women had a stroke! Unfortunately, the second women was not fast enough.

"allegedly unzipped his pants"

Maybe he didn't do it. Maybe she's lying. ( But probably not )

A crime journo, eh. Was it recreation, or a re-creation?

Could we be lucky enough to have had an "eye-reporter" there at the time? Would love to see JNN lead with the video of this tonight. Although as Fair_Dinkum suggests, they might have to enhance the video so we can clearly see the "extent" of the crime.

Actually this crime reporter doesn't had any crime story to report so he did this crime to get a crime story. hahahaha
