Two 16-year-old boys were arrested Sunday on suspicion of shooting fireworks at an 83-year-old homeless man in a public park in August. Three high school boys had already been arrested for the same crime, police said.
One of the youths, a 16-year-old high school student, has confessed to the crime. The other, a 16-year-old construction worker, denies the charges, police said.
According to police, the incident occurred at a Kobe park near Wakinohama Kaigandori on Aug 15 at around 4 a.m. A group of youths fired a series of skyrocket fireworks at the man who was sleeping on a bench. He sustained injuries to his neck and left hand. On Aug 16 a similar incident occurred in which fireworks were fired into a homeless man's makeshift shelter.© News reports
