Two male inpatients have been arrested for the murder of a third at a psychiatric hospital in Aomori City, police said Tuesday.
Police say the men, aged 59 and 40, were arrested after a third man, with whom they shared a room, was found strangled to death on Sunday night, NTV reported.
According to police, the men are accused of strangling 52-year-old Masayuki Akahira to death with a cord or rope at around 6:30 p.m. Police say the three men had been sharing a room since February of this year and that they are currently investigating whether there was a history of trouble between them.
At a press conference following the incident, a hospital spokesperson said, "This incident was not brought about by poor management. It could not have been prevented," NTV reported.

Ok - they never mentioned in the previous report that he was in a psychiatric hospital. Now things make a little more sense.
