And why is the UN making statements after the fact? Why isn't the UN calling for unified action against IS and other terror groups like Boko Harem?

The silence is deafening.

So the toothless pocket liners sitting at the UN make a whimper?

The UN by doing nothing sitting on the side lines instilling its politically correct BS agenda on the meek nations instead of taking hard lines on those who flout international laws has helped in these killings by sitting on its hands quietly.

The UN has no credibility

“Those responsible for the killing of Kenji Goto shall be held accountable”

It's going to take a coalition of the willing to make that happen.

It's going to take much more than just the willing, but you are right!

This should be a world-effort, condemning is NOT enough!

If there isn't one, having an international unit ready to deploy in hostage situations (etc) might be a good idea.

"Theoretically" less political when they operate. (am I kidding myself?), and should be more welcome (ahem) by participating and/or approving UN members than any one particular country's armed forces.

IF a force existed (exists?), countries that are restricted, as in Japan's case with their constitution, would still have the UN force to assist.

Bottom line: Save people first, sort everything else out later.

One obstacle might be that certain countries might not welcome an insight into their capabilities with regards to tactics and equipment, etc if they are among the participating countries.

One plus would be that countries like Japan can still participate in non-lethal ways, such as supply, medical support, etc. Just like they have done in the past, but less likelihood of being "threatened" because any "bases" on unfriendly soil "should" be temporary.

UN is quite useless and helpless nowadays.

UN is quite useless and helpless nowadays.

Unfortunately it seems you are correct. Which means it's time they change and try harder to achieve their original purpose.

I boggles the mind why the UNSC hasn't passed a resolution authorizing and and all members to use force against ISIL for the goal of eliminating their existence. Clearly ISIL are a threat to everybody but themselves, including Muslim people and nations.

The UN has all the data the UNSC needs.

Problem the UNSC is tied up with permanent seats assigned decades ago that no longer reflect the world climate and their VETO rights are a hindrance to make Amy decision.

Nail on the head.
