ROFL, the rubbing in of salt was a measure to reduce bleeding and stave of infections.

Yeah, it stings and hurts but it was a way to help them get over the punishment and prevent secondary causes. Salt rubbed onto a Mosquito bite will also remove the pain and itching.

As for child-porn the sooner it gets stomped out I am happy, that is pre-teen Child-porn(ie pedophilia) and yes it was common in victorian times for girls aged 8-12 to service customers.

Many countries/counties/states do set the age of consent at age 13/14 so there it is legal.

How come no Japanese were arrested? Is it because they are legally allowed to have pictures of child porn?

Probably because they are more than 72 'child porn perverts' on every single rush hour train. They would have to arrest a huge portion of the male population if they seriously wanted to crack down on the disgusting trade (which I wish they would).

Child porn is another taboo subject where most natives appear (unfortunately) to adopt the 'shoganai' attitude.

The ongoing probe has led to the arrest of 52 people in the U.S. and 13 other countries—Canada, Denmark, Ecuador, France, Germany, Hungary, Kenya, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Qatar, Serbia, Sweden and Switzerland.

No one arrested in japan

Members were then required continually to upload images of child sexual abuse in order to keep up their membership in the board, which included rules of conduct printed in English, Russian, Japanese and Spanish.

but rules of conduct in japanese....right....

How come no Japanese were arrested?

Meanwhile 52 Americans were arrested and only 13 in other countries.

The 300 pound gorilla in the room will be avoided at all costs! With utter desperation, brains will churn for a way to point the finger back at the Japanese again!

a 12yo child in the US looks adult

a 12yo child in Japan looks......12

A useless and untrue generalization. I have had 11 year old female Japanese students who could pass for 18. I have had 12 year old students of both genders who could pass for 8.

Human development is scattered all over the place. And its amazing how people refuse to see no only the physical aspects, which is right in front of their faces, but the mental aspects as well.

untrue generalization

Nah.....

I should have added "most" or "in general".

Oops!

I don't know how police working with this cope. Unbelievable.

Oh, that's not true at all unless your definition if 'child porn' is so loose as to include high school girls in bikinis. That's not what this criminal investigation was arresting people for - it sounds like this was super vile stuff.

"US officials Wednesday unveiled charges against 72 people in their largest global probe into Internet child pornography which smashed a “nightmare” online bulletin board catering to pedophiles."

Good on them! I hope they get the people that are still at large. I've no doubt there are a couple of Japanese in there somewhere, but they DID say they cannot find some because they only have their online names, and also as one poster said the laws here don't make it illegal to simply possess said porn.

Why doesn't Japan do this? They leave all these sites up (although didn't they bust people and close down one site recently?) and only go after people who upload or download, and possession is okay. Smorkian's right, due to the age of 'adulthood' starting officially at 20, there's a lot of gray area in what constitutes 'kiddy-porn' if you have highschool or even university girls scantily clad on covers, but there are times when it's clear cut and should be made illegal. Even the manga or anime with kiddy porn are absolutely repugnant.

By suggesting that more than 30 years is over-kill for a sentence? Righhhhhhht

I cannot believe you are siding with these creeps, theese child molestors, these pedophiles!!!!

These scum of the earth prey on the most inocent and vulnarable - elementary school children.

Even the worst of criminals like murderers and rapist would agree with me that these kind of people deserve the worst (sentence). Those who will share a cell block with these pedophiles who think it's okay to make child porn will make it very clear to them.

Yes, 30 years is way too lenient IMO for these scum.

Did you not read the article?

adults molesting children age 12 and under, often violently

You wanna talk to me about over-kill???

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

actually in other news reports japan was one of the countries listed, i wonder why not listed here?

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

No arrests were made in Japan.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

mod - oops - sorry about that. i do wonder why not, though.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Japanese pedos, unlike their USA buddies, draw the line at some point it seems to me.

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

skep - not from what i have read.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

don't be silly... what have you read? Got any URL links to Japanese pedos being arrested for violently abusing elementary school children?

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

Hippo, I can only guess that you have been wallowing in Japanese waters for a limited time. Pedos are in every country but in all cases it is hidden. Perhaps that is why you think it does not happen in Japan.

Back on topic please.

This story is on CNN. The perps were doing violent things to the kids on top of the images. They said that you could "rise in status if pictures contained yourself doing these acts". And the way it was described, some were violent and painful.

May they all rot in hell.

All pedophiles and child molesters should be castrated, since they cannot be rehabilitated in most cases. That goes for the hebephiles too.

Perhaps ythe 300 pound gorilla in the room should first learn how to read. 52 people out of the 72 charged by the U.S. were arrested in 14 countries. (The U.S. and 13 others). The article does not break down how many were arrested in any particular country. The remaining 20 (of unknown nationality) were still "at large" because they had only been identified by their screen names.

These are NOT people, these are SUBHUMANS at best. This type of SCUM should be sprayed with kerosene and set alight to burn slowly...public lynching would be really nice as well. But I still prefer the "skinning while alive" part.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Crazyjoe: I agree. Under no circumstances whatsoever would I ever believe in the future that one of these weirdos has been rehabilitated or "turned a new leaf". Let'em all rot in the world's most severe prison until they die.

And to ihavegreatlegs and tokyokawasaki: You seem disappointed that there were no Japanese in the list so far. Well you know what? There probably are, but I don't understand why you are so eager to see them there. A major global community of pedophiles and child porn distributors have been caught here and that's that. Sure there are lots of weirdo Japanese pedophiles who should be arrested, but why single out the Japanese as if you're looking forward to seeing some "Japanese" people on the list? The article is proof that kiddie porn is unfortunately alive and abundant in other countries..... and don't tell me that Japan is no. 1 in the world because I'd like to see some data to back that up..... and don't tell me that high school students in bikinis is child porn, because if it was, then it would be internationally illegal (not that I have any interest in it or would want my daughter to do something like that)..... and don't tell me that there are way more pedophiles or child porn owners in Japan than other countries due to its legality to own it here because that doesn't mean there are simply more in Japan, it just means that child porn owners in Japan are not getting caught or punished (not that that is a good thing).... it just seems to me from your comments that you have something against the general population of Japan. In fact, the article doesn't even mention Japan, so why do you?

1 ( +1 / -0 )

So infuriating to read this. There really is human scum out there.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

@Tahoochi,

it just seems to me from your comments that you have something against the general population of Japan. In fact, the article doesn't even mention Japan, so why do you?

They probably mention Japan (besides the fact that this is the "Japan Today" website) because of this:

Members were then required continually to upload images of child sexual abuse in order to keep up their membership in the board, which included rules of conduct printed in English, Russian, Japanese and Spanish.

Why would you need to translate your rules of conduct into Japanese if you didn't have Japanese members, eh?

Rules in Japanese?? what makes people here think they don't have Japanese members?? Of course they DO!!! YUCK~ Regardless of nationality, All pedophiles aren't human, and I hope they all die horribly with lots of pain. I would gladly volunteer to exterminate them if it was possible. SCUM like that doesn't need to live among us.

I can guarantee you that 52 that where arrested are in US, the other 20 at large elsewhere and probably will never be caught.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Bottom line:

52 AMERICAN CHILD MOLESTORS/PEDOPHILES are behind bars.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Child molesters/pedophiles (and other criminals including murderers and rapist) don't need to be caught in the act in order for the authorities to be able to prosecute them.

Being a member of a website which main purpose is that of sharing pictures and vids of children at and under the age of 12 being sexually and violently abused, is clearly enough proof to determine what kind of scum they are.

I do hope and prey that all of these sick criminals get what they DESERVE in PRISON from the rest of their FELLOW INMATES!

Own this disgusting data, no crime...steal their bike and you are in a world of trouble. Just me or do others find this bizarre?

@Armen Aslanyan (and hisashiburi):

I can guarantee you that 52 that where arrested are in US, the other 20 at large elsewhere and probably will never be caught.

You're not reading your English correctly:

The ongoing probe has led to the arrest of 52 people in the U.S. and 13 other countries - Canada, Denmark, Ecuador, France, Germany, Hungary, Kenya, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Qatar, Serbia, Sweden and Switzerland.

I can guarantee that a total of 52 people were arrested in the countries of (alphabetically) Canada, Denmark, Ecuador, France, Germany, Hungary, Kenya, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Qatar, Serbia, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United States. Why haven't there been arrests in Japan? JCops would have been responsible for making the arrests. Need I say more?

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Own this disgusting data, no crime...steal their bike and you are in a world of trouble. Just me or do others find this bizarre?

I find it bizarre that you seem to side with people who own that kind of disgusting data. They have been arrested though.... For just that.

Like a guy who has all the plans of a terrorist attack on his pc can be arrested and jailed.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

This type of SCUM should be sprayed with kerosene and set alight to burn slowly

That is a pretty inflammatory comment right there!

And surely you can see the irony in someone calling themself a witch calling for other people to be burned alive!

I find it bizarre that you seem to side with people who own that kind of disgusting data.

You misunderstood. Crikey was merely describing the situation in Japan, and he finds it bizarre.
