“Our Chinese law enforcement partners take the practice of (high seas driftnet) fishing as seriously as we do,”

Only true of non-Chinese citizens. These illegal fishermen will be set free without even going to trial, and then go back out and kill the seas once again. Hopefully the next time the coast guard disables their boat, confiscates their fish, and then tells the Chinese government where they can find the boat a week later.

“I have full faith that they will utilize the most stringent methods possible to prosecute the vessel and its owners.”

Dream on.

This happens all the time and all over the world, but these Chinese amigos are lucky they were not caught but RUSSIANS, because the Russians SHOOT YOU, your boat, then send you the bill later with the dead fishermen, if they are lucky to retrieve the bodies!

To be fair, the Russians shot at a fishing boat in their waters. This Chinese boat was intercepted in international waters. Russia problably wouldn't have shot at them or it would have been piracy.

When will these people learn they are selfishly destroying the world, and when will they care.

As for China dealing with these criminals, I highly doubt it, not a lawful country.

Please let me know when this happens. Under the eye of the whole Pacific fishing community, I don't think that will happen.

Rear Adm. Thomas Ostebo, commander of the Coast Guard’s 17th District, said in a statement. “I have full faith that they will utilize the most stringent methods possible to prosecute the vessel and its owners.”

Haha... that's what the admiral think. China will keep on doing illegal fishing and bullying because China feels everyone is scared of them. Even USA.
