A 20-year-old male university student has been arrested in Ibaraki City, Osaka Prefecture, for violently kicking a stroller which had a baby inside, police said Wednesday.

According to police, the incident occurred on Nov 18. TV Asahi reported that the suspect, Daiki Sugimoto, approached a 36-year-old woman pushing her four-month-old baby along in a carriage on a sidewalk, and proceeded to violently kick the stroller without saying anything.

Police said they are questioning Sugimoto in connection with a recent series of assaults on young women with baby strollers in the vicinity of the Nov 18 attack.

What a gutless piece of crap.

I know this sounds terribly totalitarian (and I don't care) but can we just shoot these people, please? Honestly.

Wow! What a sicko. We are seeing more and more of this in "safety japan."

-6 ( +8 / -14 )

I would have gone ballistic on this dude if he did that to me.

8 ( +9 / -1 )

Make him stand behind some thoroughbreds.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

What a nutjob, I would love to kick this moron in the head

1 ( +3 / -2 )

what a tough guy, attacking those he knows won't fight back.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

My wife would have gone through him for a short cut.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

I hope he is also the guy who was involved in the other 3 attacks because that would mean we finally have caught that nutter. Time to lock him up and throw away the key.

Dear, Osaka Police

Please kick this guy in the ''stroller'' then trow him in jail. Yours truly, Gengar

This country needs community service/detention type punishment . 500 hours of cleaning road gutters of trash and weeds, cleaning parks, riversides. make this P.O.C really pay for his pathetic-ness.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Creative punishment time: bind him to an adult-sized stroller, and let all his victims' mothers kick him to their hearts' content.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

He is soon to be a "former" university student...

4 ( +7 / -3 )

I hope the baby is ok :(

7 ( +8 / -1 )

Is there a name for his mental condition? Seriously ...

He is soon to be a "former" university student...

Not if he attends a private university!

2 ( +6 / -4 )

He is incredibly lucky that I did not see it. As a new father I would not have been able to contain myself regardless of who's baby it was. Despicable! He must have a screw loose somewhere. I do hope the bay was not harmed. The mother must still be in shock!

Here is some more detail on this including pictures of the alleged perpetrator.

What does being a student at a university have to do with this incident?

-8 ( +0 / -8 )

@Mirai Hayashi

I would have gone ballistic on this dude if he did that to me.

That's the problem. This kind of waste never picks on those who can fight back. Good link - looks like he's been busy so it's great he's been caught.

Obviously a very disturbed individual.

@bilderberg_2015

Not if he attends a private university!

Maybe not to the same extent as the above, but your "logic" gives me cause for concern.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Some chimpira did this to my wife in Meguro station, glad I wasn't there...

1 ( +2 / -1 )

I had trouble with people when I went to college. They were like drug dealers or hackers. But they all seem like pretty decent citizens compared to a person who kicks a baby in a stroller.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

I can't even imagine what I might have done to this guy had it been my child in that stroller. I'd likely be in jail right now for assault or possibly even attempted murder...

8 ( +9 / -1 )

And this is one of the reasons I'm leaving this country; too many stressed and volatile people walking around. Leaving for a safer place, New Zealand.

-5 ( +2 / -8 )

I am glad none of you actually saw the incident. I wouldn't want people jailed for assault or anything for beating up this piece of xxx.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Thanks for the link Mirai. The part when they guy rides past on his bicycle and kicks the stroller, that exact thing happened to me when I was walking my baby down a quiet street in Kichijoji a year ago. I couldn't even chase him down as it would've meant my baby was left unattended. I was livid to say the least. Have your wits about you at all times people.

The police here would never favor you over a Japanese national. You'd end up worse off than him if you hit him. Sorry to say.

Lock him up with some violent offenders, please. And lock him up for at least a few years.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Poor mom and baby, they didn't do anything wring!

2 ( +2 / -0 )

To do that to an innocent, defenselss infant!?

i say, HANG THE BASTARD!!

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Poor mom and baby, they didn't do anything wrong!

It's pronounced "Ibaragi", not "Ibaraki". "Ibaraki" is a prefecture. If you write about Japan, just get it right, Japan Today.

-12 ( +1 / -13 )

We did get it right. The city in Osaka Prefecture is Ibaraki.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The prefecture website seems to think it's Ibaraki.

http://www.pref.ibaraki.jp/

The city in Osaka also seems to think it's called Ibaraki.

http://www.city.ibaraki.osaka.jp/

But I've definitely heard locals say Ibaragi.

It sounds like the student in question would be better suited at a mental institution to continue his studies

Jackass

To bad hes gonna be put in a Japanese jail. If he were put in an American jail with that rap sheet, hed get what was coming to him real quick.

Probably right. What I've never understood though, is if you're all OK with that kind of thing, why not make what was coming to him an official part of sentencing?

Stick his parents in there as well I'd say. If a 20 year-old turns out like that there's clearly been something very badly wrong with his upbringing and it's probably their fault.

Mirai Hayashi-san, thanks for posting the additional ANN broadcast info, it really helps to see the extra information.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

What a scum-sucking piece of crap he is. Hope they throw the book at him!

0 ( +1 / -1 )

I get the feeling that this kid was not breast fed himself.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

What an idiot douche, hope he gets good prison time.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The only thing that shocks me as much as what this douche did is that reading the comments how common it is. I thought I was the only one it had happened to. Guy tried to up-end the stroller while my 1 year old was in it. Naturally the police took his side when he said I had attacked him with the pram!

1 ( +1 / -0 )

I am glad they caught him now before he goes to the society and do even worse crimes but how low can a guy get to hurt babys that can't protect themselves ,on the other hand compared to the elementary school girls that saved a woman who couldnt cross the railroad tracks on a welchair putting there lifes in danger !
