Police have arrested a 22-year-old student of Keio University on suspicion of stealing wallets from the library. Police said the student, Kotaro Kume, has admitted to the charge.

According to police, the first theft occurred at around 5:20 p.m. on April 5 at Keio University’s Hiyoshi Library located in Yokohama, Sankei Shimbun reported. Kume is accused of stealing the wallet of a 22-year-old female student, that contained approximately 3,000 yen in cash. Then on April 17, around 3:50 p.m., Kume allegedly walked off with a wallet belonging to a 19-year-old male student, containing 4,000 yen in cash at the same library.

After the thefts were reported, university staff consulted with police. Kume surfaced as a suspect after police reviewed surveillance camera footage installed inside the building.

A spokesperson for Keio University said Kume, who resides in Yokohama’s Kohoku Ward, is a student at the Faculty of Economics.

You are clearly uninformed about what new hires have to endure, even graduates of Keio, Waseda, Todai, etc.

If you're going to pickpocket / steal, why go after uni students? Everyone knows they are broke! At least target someone who might make the payoff worth the risk!!
