It is quite an accomplishment for a man who cannot read, write, and speak Japanese.

I'm not a lawyer, but that testimony sounds a bit like hearsay. Surprised it was allowed. But then again, the prosecutor holds all the cards in a Japanese "trial".

Hari Nada, a former Nissan vice president in charge of legal affairs, is a key whistleblower in the case brought by Japanese prosecutors against former Nissan and Renault boss Ghosn, who was arrested in 2018.

He might reflect on being Vice President of legal affairs seems he wasn't capable of doing that job.

Nada was demoted following Ghosn's arrest. And I bet there are lots of prosecutors, police being demoted after the the debacle they started. Japan's legal system investigation process is based on confession not actual investigation. Terror is its version of truth.

So, yesterday on JT there was a story that it was Nissan who hid the money. Now, today, this story said that Ghosn hid the money. I think its Nissan who was responsible to acknowledge the money flow from the beginning of Ghosn's employment. Funny how Nissan is the employer and had no idea what was going on. I side with Ghosn. He was set up for sure.

Ravinder Passi, was former legal counsel got demoted since he asked conflict of interest of people who planned downfall for Carlos Ghosn. What happened to him, his house also being confiscated after that.

Beside that, wavestone French IT security company was hired to break into Ghosn mail, in early 2018.

When wavestone was operated in their internal network is being done without knowledge of internal company IT manager, so what they did nobody knows since no internal IT staff can really monitor what they actually do.

They are just reporting what the testimonies are saying. Not everyone knows who was involved directly. And this is about Kelly, not Ghosn. Obviously the whistle-blower is going to blame Kelly, as he set it up that way to begin with.

The J Govt. feared such a large player being outside its orbit of control, and the house of cards collapsing.

This story was reported yesterday on NNN news, without disclosing the name of the former excutive officer didn't know it was Hari Nada until reading this article, I found it strange they didn't want to reveal his name but only his testimony that he received instructions from kelly and from Kelly only to conceal Ghosn salary and only Kelly was working on concealing Ghosn salary, there was no mention just like in this story of Kelly's defense statement. This kind of amateurish reporting might give to an unthinking mind the impression that the party being reported against is guilty by deliberately not mentioning whether the accused refuted the testimony or not.

Nada has immunity his statement doesn't make sense. Why would the French government fire him?

This article doesn’t say much about Kelly, you wouldn’t think it him that was on trial would you.

The only crime that Ghosn committed was trusting Japan Inc and loving Nissan! He should have left Nissan for better offers from other countries. The Japanese executives were super jealous of him and conspired with the Japanese prosecutors to build up a fake case against him! The independent commission from the UN has also said so. Other foreign CEOs / Executives need to be extra careful when accepting jobs with Japan Inc.

~sigh! Why don't they just give it up already? This case made no sense from the beginning and its even worse with this article! More confusing than Japan's laws!

Hari Nada was a key proponent in taking down Ghosn. Dude was the mastermind according to several articles. Now he's a witness with immunity. What about Ghosn and Kelly's witnesses? Are they even allowed to have any? This is like a Nazi court trying to appear to serve justice in the eyes of the world in 2021.

Minor quibble but this is factually incorrect. The rule requires compensation above 100 million Yen, not 1 billion Yen, to be disclosed.

Yahoo had a similar article around the same time (2pm), and at night posted an article including the executive's name. So perhaps they weren't allowed to reveal his name until the session closed.

Regarding Kelly's defense, you can't expect NNN to report on that when it hasn't even begun yet!

A most interesting case--I have been following it from the beginning. The Bloomberg articles are really excellent and I would urge anyone to search for them. This case was precipitated by the change in rules of company executive payment disclosure regarding salary introduced in 2010. From Bloomberg:

Maybe if the prosecutors had allowed him to be with his wife, he would have stayed. It was pretty cruel treatment for an “alleged” nonviolent crime.

Actually, it does. Yesterday was Nissan's motive to agree to pay him more, including the possibility of using illegal covert means. Today was Ghosn's motive to agree to getting his pay (deserved or not) via illegal covert means.

The prosecution seems to be building up a case. That Nissan and Ghosn both agreed means little because the protection target of the law requiring disclosure of payment is potential and actual stockholders, and secondarily other companies that may work with Nissan and would benefit from an accurate report of its financial health.
