Ghosn met Lebanese president after fleeing Japan

I doubt Gohsn entered Lebanon with French Passport. I believed it was Lebanese Passport. Also, I doubt about he hided inside double bass case or Musical box.

No doubt Ghosn used fake passport to enter Lebanon because his lawyer still keeps all his real official passports in Japan. Another passport means "fake". I heard the passport's name is not written Carlos Ghosn.

News updates say he had a second French passport that was valid, which was to be kept locked in a lock box.

It's good to wait for news updates rather than leap to "no doubt" conclusions.

For those who followed this story since its beginning, and this on several opposing news outlets, it simply cannot be as portrayed here.

Mr. Ghosn will make an international interview with in a week time, however, I very much doubt that it will clear up anything what so ever.

Japan is hosting the Olympics and does not want to take any further risks.

this trial would have been a nightmare for Japan and it may or may not have been able to win it, nevertheless, it would generate a lot of negative press for the country.

Japan cannot afford an Assange style case as the U.K. is dealing with right now.

Wile what the UK are doing to Assange is highly questionable and maybe even illegal with the International Court of the UNO. The U.K. Would have welcomed such a scenario for Assange.

But such was not possible with the securities and high profiling that are in place.

Japan its own security systems would not have allowed for this to happen, unless it was let to happen, and encouraged to happen.

would this have gone to court, it would have disclosed to the public all political, internal and international business practices of Japan its politics as well as its businesses.

it could end up causing much harm to Japan and its economy that has been greatly criticized for decades now on an international level and in particular by the USA.

The Facts are simple though, Japan has a highly sofisticated security system that makes such escapades rather unlikely to be done, still, it is a rather welcomed outcome for politics and business alike, and this Nationally as well as Internationally.

He probably wanted to say thank you to President Aoun. Apparently he had near daily visits by Lebanese Embassy staff while under house arrest.

I’m sure that Lebanon got more human rights and fair treatments than Japan does.

At least all this medieval/macho/old fashioned “justice” farse system is now displayed around the western civilized world.

And people abroad realize how archaic is the system back in Japan.

Is the Japanese legal system sufficiently robust to withstand comparison with Western democracies where innocence is presumed until guilt is proven, and where prosecutors failure to share charges and allegations with defence teams means courts cannot consider such charges/allegations?

According to one Japanese media source this morning, he apparently he had a second French passport which he'd kept on him, as well as his Lebanese ID card. It also said he'd departed from Kansai airport - a small local airport! But he and his wife are not going to tell all the details for fear of compromising people here. Besides which, someone else might need similar services in the future!

Folks, just an FYI, one CAN have more than one valid passport at the same time from the same country, anyone who tours or does a lot of business travel often have two passports so they can obtain visa's in a timely manner or for example if one does business in BOTH Israel & say Saudi Arabia, neither want to see stamps of the others entry into the other country, solution, TWO valid passports.

Carlos likely simply had more than one valid passport from somewhere & kept it, nothing unusual at all

If he went through the border with a passport written "Carlos Ghosn" on it that's quite a failure from the border protection ...

This is like movie spy stuff. Actually, I hope they make a documentary to detail how he escaped and the entire story behind it.

any french biz travelling around various countries may ask a second passport to avoid any kind of discrimination, he gave back only one I guess.

Carlos Ghosn need to be out of Japan as 2020 rolls in. The spotlight of a Ghosn trial in Japan does not go well with the upcoming Olympic Games. I understand the Japanese foreign Minister was in Lebanon a short while ago, probably for a last minute discussion. It was agreed that the Japanese authority will let the great escape take place during the year-end holiday period. There is no mystery about this.

We have no guaranty this is Ghosn since he had a twin playing his role in Lebanon for at least 6 months according to the first french newspaper LeMonde. This could be a distraction and he could be still in Japan waiting for a safer time to leave.

He is suspected to have link with terrorism since he passed through a private group. And in France, he won't receive much help. So he came in Lebanon with fake french papers. Lebanon is lying to create distraction, because Japan is a complicated country to leave and the president is no fool about the people helping Ghosn.

They put France in front line to avoid to think that japan is the third world economy, and they are not on the Japan friends blacklist. They want to make look like France is guilty of planning the coup. But, we didn't.

Ghosn want to humiliate the people that didn't help him. So he planned big for fools and he might have lied to Lebanon.

The suspected group make his expertise to create "clones" for his thieves and was last seen working for terrorism. He could have help Ghosn, to next kidnap him for his IronMan nuc possibilities. His wife is expert in lying and was left there to finish in prison. This is suicide to go in lebanon for him and his family.

Here, in Japan, he is guilty of everything and will be receive to death penalty. His family will be blacklisted from everywhere in Asia.

I don't understand Ghosn living Japan. This is letal. And with the suspected terrorism links, Japan was the safest place to be for him. He takes with him all his family and friends.

Officiously, Mister Ghosn is a suspect disparition by security mesure. The team probably made bone marrow transplant to his twin to have access to his account and clean his files.

Did Ghosn really escape without any help, or did somebody high up in Japan want him to slip out of the country? It's quite an escape if Ghosn pulled it off by himself.

If that’s indeed true then the entire judicial system is more of a joke and embarrassment than I previously thought.

Now Lebanon has put itself in the league of rogue nations by assisting Ghosn to escape. I suspect that the Lebanese government played a role in helping the suspect leave Japan without going through passport control, hence there was no record of Ghosn leaving Japan. The relations between the two countries will be strained in the near future but I don’t think Japan will sever diplomatic ties with the Middle East country.

I really doubt it. Japanese government will never help bailed suspects flee out of Japan whatever and never done in the past. Government never interrupts prosecutor way anyway. Ghosn and his wife and his operation team planned the escape very carefully and they did it during busiest day of the year. I wonder why prosecutor did not order to put GPS device on Ghosn's leg? US, UK,,,, they always put GPS on bailed suspects.

At least this all saves the prosecutor having to try and convict a man who had no intention of pleading guilty.

It seems more likely that Ghosn escaped with the help of the Japanese government, especially with the visit of the Japanese Foreign Minister to Lebanon 10 days prior. This was an attempt for Abe to save face from further reports of malfeasance since the charges against him were made to prevent Renault from taking controlling interest in Nissan.

I think somebody met the president BEFORE the escape to ensure safe passage.

It would be an amazing twist to see the Japanese attempt a daring kidnap to bring him back to face 'justice'.
