Can the Japanese gov't be trusted to actually send legit files to Lebanon in the first place?

If they don't send the files then they have to refund his bail money and consider the case closed.

If they had bulletproof or at least tangible evidences the trial would have already started or a fix date in the near future would have been set.

Japan has some of the quickest and most efficient photocopiers in the world, there should be no problem for them to provide the files in 4 days, much less than 40 days!

Is not just providing necessary documents but which one they willing to provide since not all evidence will be sided in favor with prosecution. So far there is still no obligation for a prosecuting attorney to disclose exculpatory evidence, that's why Ghosn doesn't want to go on trial in Japan.

After working on this for almost 2 years, they should have plenty of documents to send right now. Great move by the Lebanese justice minister.

Hopefully another country or at lease court can review the documents and claim "there is no evidence here"

I’m glad to see that Lebanon is bringing some sense of judicial normalcy to this situation. So far Lebanon has applied reasonable limits on both parties in order to re-establish fairness.

We need to remember Lebanon

Remeber what actions they took and how they give refugee to a criminal.

This country is no friend to Japan. Any further investments, financial help, should be reconsider to more friendly nations towards Japan.

Good point! In Japan, prosecutors are not obligated to share evidence with the defense, so prosecution has access to all the resources of the government including the police investigation and the defense does not.

The defense has to beg or hire professionals with connections to the police to gather evidence.

It is rigged from the beginning to favor the prosecution!

There's no way they will do this. Great to finally see an insular and corrupt system flounder as a result of their own inequities.
