If they have been officially arrested they should be in custody, in detention, for questioning, and eventually being turned over to the public prosecutors office for trial.

Where has he been detained?

They want to be seen during sporting even, now they are getting coverage for free because of scandal all over the news.

In this case, I will bet any money, that it wont be a suspended sentence. The Olympics were a source of pride for the Japanese government, particularly the LDP (Abe) and similar to cases of campaign laws being broken, guys like this will get jail sentences, because they broke the trust of the public, for personal gains.

Many politicians have gone to jail for campaign finance violations, and this guy isnt even a politician. I'll bet he gets jail time, not long probably, either way, he is done.

The Tokyo 2021 trainwreck just keeps on giving.

Are these fellas languishing in a police cell whilst these investigations are ongoing or are they, as I suspect, free to go about their daily lives? I can think of one or two other people who would find that a tad unfair.
