18 months vs suspended sentence.....give him the 18 but in my opinion, threatening the life a a child, any child, should be worth more time behind bars!

I do not have much sympathy with Hasegawa’s foolish actions but the sentence seems excessive!

The defendant admitted his intention to injure someone but did not.

That is not a crime.

Certainly, Hasegawa was stupid but nobody was injured by his actions.

The prosecution seeks a sentence of 18 months for criminal damage?

Trespass is a crime in Japan?

It seems excessive.

This sicko intended to stab and likely kill a child, had weapons and had planned well to carry out the act. 18 months in prison is a complete joke. 20 years would be more appropriate.

Put yourself and your family in this position. If someone did that you your kid or wife even if they weren't injured, and I pray it NEVER happens to anyone else, would you want this guy roaming free?

The whole scenario of plumber's disguise, smuggling knives, working out where the right desk was and cutting the security camera power shows a high degree of planning. He admits to wanting to stab the prince. This guy is dangerous.

(More 'invalid' rubbish)

The defendant, who was arrested three days later, told investigators he is against Japan's imperial system and intended to stab the prince.

I'm surprised they didn't say Preparation for Homicide given what he confessed to. Is it because they considered him to have voluntarily abandoned his preparation?
