Happened in Gamagori, not Nagoya.

Intentional infection really, like we don't have much to worry about as it is and this loose nut is out and about purposely infecting others. Jail is too much to nice. I'm sure there are methods in place to make him pay. On the flip side China has released the name of the first man infected with the Coronavirus: His name: Ah Chu!

I agree that looking down on someone who is living with his parents is culturally insensitive and a bit ignorant. It's sad that so many in the US just dump their folks. But that said, when combined with other info (such as his behavior here), it does become a red flag.
coskuri
The shop-owner association should give him a life ban from all bars and eateries in his town. Let drink his chu-hi can on a bench, on his own.

almostshat...hardly .

I'm just surprised that ISIS, Al Qaeda etc are not as yet (as far as we know) doing the same thing globally. Perfect way to commit suicide and take lots of others with you.
stormcrow
Premeditated assault by deadly virus.
Send him directly to jail and longer if death or harm comes to the people he was in contact with.
Jimizo
Yep, I have a family member doing that right now.
He sacrifices a lot. He’s a better man than I am.
Fighto!
Nope. Especially the sociopathic ones like this one deserve all the criticism they get.
shogun36
Well, hopefully this fool dies slow. Or at least alone somewhere in a ditch.
It's one thing to affect people unknowingly, it's another to be a complete turd monkey and go around casually spreading your virus around.
Again, authorities, people like this, get a picture of them and give out names, so people can be aware of such a lowlife.

This is only get people to beg for more medical tyranny.
Wat a jerk

Attempted murder?
And FGS, can you please stop criticizing 50-year olds for living with their parents? Some are actually looking after their frail parents. Not every culture involves parents throwing their kids out of the house once they reach 18. Living together is very common in non-western cultures.
Mirai Hayashi
If someone dies from this, he should be charged for murder
garypen
In most parts of the US, he could be charged with Assault and/or Reckless Endangerment, and possibly other crimes. There must be similar charges that could be applied in Japan to someone who knowingly exposes others to serious, possibly fatal, illness with the intent of infecting them.
It would also set an example, hopefully discouraging others, especially the inconsiderate ones who aren't trying to deliberately spread the virus, but who still go out in public (other than medical facilities), despite exhibiting symptoms.
Jayel
I live in Nagoya and read about this. The interesting thing was that the girl he was in direct contact with (sitting next to) tested negative for the virus while a girl who sat down on the waiting seat 30 minutes after he had been seated there contracted the virus.
Yrral
On in Japan, people do not have no business, drinking period during this virus for health reasons
therougou
He didn't have any symptoms. Hardly a death sentence. The fact that he told the pub tells me he is some kind of loser attention grabber.
fxgai
This guy is a clown, but living with your parents in Japan is normal. Don’t judge people by that alone.
nandakandamanda
He probably felt he had been given a death sentence. Wanting to spread such a thing around before he died certainly suggests that it was 'with intent'.
Fighto!
This dirtbag expressed an intent to injure other people, and indeed at least one other person was intentionally injured by him. Charge the animal with assault. I hope the businesses he went to sue him for millions of yen. But being a loser still living with his parents in his 50s, he likely has nothing to his name.
He is also a sleazebag. I hope the poor woman makes a full recovery.
Mr Kipling
Tora... spot on. Ive always thought that if you have kids still living at home when they are past 30.. You have failed miserably as a parent!
Tora
Yep, in his 50s and still living at home. He's likely to be one of those guys who bludges off his parents, has never held down a stable job and is for all intents and purposes, socially disfunctional.
Sadly, he is a product of modern Japanese society. Not surprising that he did what he did.
Fuzzy
This may sound extreme to some, but why not charge him with attempted murder. Make a real example of this fool. He knowingly tried to infect people with a virus that is know to cause serious illness and even death. He had malicious intent.
fa477279
Typical Nagoya act here. Worst area of Japan.
savethegaijin
Intentionally infecting people with a potentially deadly illness during a pandemic?
How isn't this assault exactly?
fxgai
The article has the answer - "interfering with business activities". This is an actual crime.
mtuffizi
this type of people should not be in normal society, should leave him in an isolate island.
Bugle Boy of Company B
yes, but serious question here. What about the other people behind bars that get exposed to this idiot? I guess they would have no choice but to toss them in solitary holding. Shame really.
Bugle Boy of Company B
Hard to say. Public nuisance for sure I think.
Fanny Greene
Make him pay victims hospital treatment. Then throw his ass in jail.
dbsaiya
Solitary confinement in a cell, don't take up hospital beds.
Dr. Theopolis
Curious what this loser will be charged with? Assault?
JJ Jetplane
This idiot seriously needs to be behind bars.
