Suga said at a regular briefing that the government is providing as much support to him as possible from the standpoint of "protecting Japanese citizens."

Why would the govt protect a criminal ?

The only criminals here are the Chinese government.

It's about high time Japan returns in kind instead of turning a blind eye as usual considering all the espionage the Chinese do to Japan and the U.S. Also, where is the facts and proof on the espionage charges on this Itochu guy?

Probably in the same file as the ones for those Canadians...

The world should just boycott China, toss out every Chinese citizen from their countries and be done with that toilet of a country.

@Akie

Do you think before you post?

What was he tried for? What are the facts? Arrested in February, tried in June, no facts released?? What kind of justice system is that?

I will never visit China.

@MikeH... spot on mate! You beat me to it!

@AustPaul... It doesn’t matter to China if you don’t visit...Japan also detain foreigners without cause so just pray that you don’t fall in type of scenario while living in / traveling to Japan! The legal system in Japan is one of the worst in the world when it comes to foreigners but they keep seeking sympathy!

Well Japan, how does it feel to be victim of a similar dictatorship justice system as yours? How does it feel to be victim of a manipulated justice system which arrests people on poor or fabricated charge?

I am actually always amazed on how much Japanese can be hypocrite. He claims to defend Japanese citizens arguably against an oppressive justice system in China but Japan does basically the same to people. For world sake, they are doing the same dirty crap against Ghosh.

“I'm not sure it's right to criticise other systems simply because they are different”

How not to get arrested in Japan: Don't be an idiot.

How not to get arrested in China: Don't be a foreigner.
