I am sincerely glad that these girls are safe and the plick arrested! Young, impressionable, and more than a bit naive I am sure, but at least one had the guts to go the cops when she had the chance!

What happen to the other girl?

But the police didn't bother to check every room in the place and left. Is this a case of gross negligence or what?

Just because someone may be a subject the cops have to obtain a warrant to search the premises. If they had a reason to investigate him, the question is why? Also, if there was reason to question him, the next question is why they did not obtain a search warrant.

Otherwise they can not act like the gestapo and just go searching through the house.

Wolfpack:

I don’t understand why a 35 year old man would target such a young girl. Pedophiles must be hard wired from birth to be attracted to girls.

Pedophilia refers to attraction to younger children and is not limited to one gender. I think we should respect definitions a bit more, otherwise communication becomes impossible.

I don’t understand why a 35 year old man would target such a young girl. Pedophiles must be hard wired from birth to be attracted to girls. They know it’s illegal and that society shuns people who seek sexual gratification from children. What can be done with people like this other than confinement for the rest of their lives?

Apparently the Osaka girl was not living with her father and she might have a father complex.

Sad story. Good it is all over.

So, obviously Ibaraki police must have gotten a tip, as they visited Ito's residence. So he was a suspect. The 15 year old girl was keeping quiet in another room as she didn't want to be found, or maybe she was sleeping. But the police didn't bother to check every room in the place and left. Is this a case of gross negligence or what?

It could be that questioning on a voluntary basis does not necessarily mean the police were allowed to search his house.

So am I.

(Lol at “plick” though.)

What happen to the other girl?

Read the end of the article again. I know it's a bit confusing as it is written, but the "other" girl was from Ibaraki.

The 15-year-old girl's family had reported her missing to police in June, according to investigative sources.

Ibaraki prefectural police said Sunday that they had visited Ito's residence in July and questioned him on a voluntary basis, but could not confirm the presence of the junior high school girl at the time.

The girl, who has now been reunited with her family, was not believed to have been confined as she told the police that she "refrained from going out to avoid being found," according to an Ibaraki police official.

She was saved. We're all glad. Now leave her alone.

We don't need further info about her unless it affects the judgement.

Media and people, don't waste your time on this because we need more to disduss. Let's move on!

The 35-year-old man, who was arrested Saturday, sent a message asking the elementary school sixth grader to come to his house in Oyama, according to the police. He has denied the allegations against him.

The elementary school girl told police that the man had taken away her phone and shoes, and she managed to escape while he and the other girl, whom investigative sources identified as a 15-year-old girl from Ibaraki Prefecture, were sleeping.

There's probably more to this story considering that they police suspected the guy during the Ibaraki case, and the girl says that she was there voluntary (although it's also likely that he was manipulating her). I wonder if the kid contacted the parents in the meantime to let them know she was ok, either way they must be happy to see their kid after so many months. Hopefully more information comes out of this to explain his motives and background.

garypen:

WTH is this piece of crap allowed to cover his face like that? I would imagine that he wasn't arrested with that parka. He probably requested and was given it.

On the TV wide shows, he did not cover his face. You are just judging from one picture here.

Err what? In case of suspected abduction, should the police not have the right to look around?

Yah, what Yubaru said. The police most definitely do NOT have the right to look around anyone's house without a warrant or probable cause. There is no indication that they had either at the time of the voluntary questioning which seems to have happened some time before the 12 year old ran off from home.

The girl has told the police that she became acquainted with the suspect, Hitoshi Ito, on social media around Nov 10. and they decided to meet in a park in Osaka four or five days later.

So, this creep groomed this little girl on the internet and arranged to meet her with the intention of kidnapping her. Using the internet to groom minors carries an 8-10 year jail sentence in Australia. Kidnapping and confining a minor also carries a further ten years. He would also be charge with abuse for not feeding her. This creep would be nearly 60 by the time he got out of jail in Australia. Hopefully, the Japanese courts will put this sleaze away for a very long time. However, the Japanese legal system does not accumulate charges. He will only be tried on the severest of his crimes.

20 years imprisonment minimum.

something missing here, bost girls were actually runaways and he did not sexually attack either.

obviously he is a creep ,but i certainly hope someone gets down to why the girls needed escaping in first place ( specially the older one, seems she didnt want to return home)

SHM hard on this one... Glad they are ok.

But, why they left home to follow this stranger? They must have some social problems at home or schools, there's more than we know.

Don't get me wrong, they are not the one to blame here.

She had only a meal and a bath every two days, and that is the reason she is complaining...

It seems grass was not greener over the fence.

I was having a bath or so a week when young (and clea ing the rest of the week with water without bath or shower).

The article is lacking so basic information.

The parents may be worse (or runaway would not exist), investigation needed please.

Glad he is just a weirdo than a criminal.

Applying body restrictions – phone, shoes, meals, baths, and toilet access – are known ways to brainwash and build dependency. Given a few more weeks and this 12yo would not have had the courage to run away. I suspect that the 15yo girl underwent the same and this caused her to still be there after 6 months. Nothing at all to do with what their family situation was like.

Reprogramming the girls by means necessary. Just by reading the article with few facts is enough to draw up an analysis.

What a terrifying ordeal for both the girls and their parents.

"Perhaps he was influenced by the popular “Dorobo-Kazoku” movie, in which the protagonists kidnap children who are neglected and take care of them." We clearly did not see the same movie...

Manbiki-Kazoku.... was it. Nevertheless, what the couple in that movie were doing, is by legal definition abduction, no matter how good their intentions were.

From TV news I heard that they found the suspect's phone number in the posessions of the 15yo, leading them to question him.  With no known reason for her to have his number, maybe they should have obtained a court order.  In hindsight of course...

Yes. The comment I made here is based on the picture that is shown here. Crazy, huh?

Well, let's hope the cops get their act together and get a warrant next time they get a tip that someone possibly kidnapped someone. They should have searched that house, they would have found the 15 year old girl and the 12 year old girl would not have been kidnapped.

regarding the guy in question, I want to hear more about his motives and what will actually happen to the girls.

If they felt distressed enough to run away and trust a complete stranger over their families, returning them to families would be quite a mistake.

Sexual crimes are said to be crimes of power, not of sex drive.

And?

Strangerland:

That (castration) was the punishment for hmosxuals back in the day. We are becoming a more tolerant society, so the above (pæd) may soon be as acceptable as trans and hmosx. Then again, society tends to swing back conservative to, especially if the change is too sudden.

I can understand drinking. Gambling, too.

But being a pedo? Wtf. Ain't nothing prettier than a GROWN (read: 25+ y.o) woman's body. Glad the police caught his weird, abnormal arr.
