Wrong on so many levels. Low level accountants do NOTHING that is not instructed from above. They should be building cases against the law makers.

Tax free income is nice.

Somehow I dont think so. Bet he comes up with the idea of a "special budget" and give 10,000 yen to everyone in Japan as "gomen" money, and he expects then that he will be forgiven!

""But the support rate for Kishida's cabinet plummeted to a fresh low of 22.3 percent in the latest survey by Kyodo News on Sunday, well below 30 percent, which is widely regarded as perilous for an administration.""
I believe Mr. Kishida will again do his UPMOST AGAIN to solve this crises and work closely with the authorities.

Let's nail these guys and finally get rid of the LDP and their US handlers!

They have had weeks to operate their paper shredders, and try to delete their computer files.

Regain public trust? Europe junket incoming?

The intention to search the LDP offices was announced in the newsvery publicly days in advance so even common citizens and their dog had a lengthy heads up.
Don't ecpect them to find anything that could be used to incriminate anyone beyond the usual suspended sentences, unless they would like to make an example of someone to 'regain the public's trust' (even if that were to be the case you could expect the scapegoat to be pardoned and have his sentence commuted at some later date after demonstrating the necessary remorse and contrition).

Kishida reminds me of the Action Man Talking Commander I got for Christmas when I was seven years old.
When I pulled a cord from his chest I could hear these phrases -- I quickly got bored with it:
"This is your Commander speaking"
"Enemy aircraft - action stations"
"Volunteer needed for a special mission"
"Enemy in sight: Range 1000"
"Patrol fall in!"
"Hold your fire until I give the order"
"Mortar attack - dig in"
"Commander to base: Request support fire"
A Kishida doll would say things like: "I will restore public trust" and "I will take steps to prevent a recurrence".

WHere can I get the set..
Maybe with the Kono figure and the bonus takaeichi with "kickdrum sounds" one too…
"time for a hold hands" "Firmly will seek," "Might just may consider"
And "free Pts for Mynaumbers… kickbacks not included!"
and "Ban critics. Emergency power for me. Lets try hitlers will!"

That reminds me of Father Ted , when they try to teach Father Jack to respond to Bishop Brennan with "yes," "no," or "that would be an ecumenical matter."

'At a party executive meeting on Tuesday, Kishida said the LDP will "take necessary steps to regain public trust."'
How many times has he said that now?

I bet they didn't see that coming.

Having the press there for the traditional “carrying of boxes by stern looking men in dark suits” ceremony is all part of the theater.

It’s been that way since the Meiji Era, TokyoOldMan.

Gee that's a surprise only investigating the accountants not the politicians that ordered them to turn a blind eye....

This is basically tantamount to corruption or tax evasion if you want. In other countries the government would have already delivered their resignations by this time.
This case really shows us that the politics of Japan has been shaped around the LDP-party for as long as people can remember. This "god-like" status that the LDP-party has enjoyed for so long has recieved a heavy blow, but I think we all know that it takes more to bring down the LDP-party from power. People has to understand that this was a practice that has been deeply rooted in the political system of LDP.
Bring an end to corruption, and bring an end to the LDP-rule that has for too long literallly corrupted Japan.

Amazing Japan where elected officials can get away with law breaking, corruption and bribery and still are able to,not only stay out of gaol but still receive public money!

The current system is corrupt and presents significant hurdles for those seeking to enter politics with good intentions.
However, this doesn't mean it's impossible. The true question isn't whether everyone in the system is corrupt, but rather how we can overcome the entrenched inequalities and limitations that hinder genuine progress.
This is where the younger generation comes in. We/they must become active participants in shaping our democracy, not just by voting, but also by volunteering, campaigning, and even running for office our/themselves. By working together across generations, we can break down barriers, build a more inclusive political landscape, and ensure that all voices are heard.
This will give us 10 years of good governance before they too become addicted to and obsessed with keeping power,

Great idea, but money is a huge obstacle. The deposit for candidates in single seat elections is ¥9 million, and millions more is needed for all the election campaign nonsense. The only young people who can get hold of that kind of money are the sons or daughters of incumbent Diet members.
I think the costs are kept high so that all voices aren't heard. The LDP good ol' boys don't want the serfs trying to interrupt their cosy status quo with any subversive nonsense about actually governing the country.
