Police in Shinjuku are investigating the death of a woman whose body was found in a love hotel on Tuesday night.

According to police, an employee of the Hotel Aland in the Kabukicho district called police at around 9 p.m. Tuesday to report that a woman was found in the bathtub filled with water.

Police said there were no signs of external injuries on the body of the woman who appeared to be in her 20s, and said an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.

Police said the hotel informed them that the woman and a man checked into the hotel at around 3 a.m. on Tuesday.

The hotel said that a few hours later, someone pressed a buzzer calling for staff. An employee went to the room and saw the woman lying on the bed. The man said they were going to check out.

However, the man apparently left by himself.

This part does not make sense. Never heard of a love hotel where you call staff to check out....

I’ve been to one. They came to the back door and I paid cash.

This part does not make sense. Never heard of a love hotel where you call staff to check out.... the usual procedure is to simply leave the room and deliver the key at the front desk (and pay extra in case of overtime).

I wonder what CCTV footage there is, and was the room payed on a credit card? finger prints? I don't think its going to be long before he's brought in for questioning.

Sex game gone wrong? Drugs? Or just a temper tantrum when she talked about breaking up?

Only been to one once, for curiosity. But recently you can find on international hotel booking sites. Maybe if lots of forighners stay, security will improve.

I know that Love Hotels in Japan are restricted to get out once inside the room without allowance and confirmation of the partner, can be the man or woman. That guy escaped that restricted location, how could he do that?

Step 1: Put your hand on the door handle

Step 2: Twist

Step 3: Pull (or push) the door open

Step 4: Walk through door

Step 5: Walk away

Who the heck calls the staff into their room at a love hotel? I don't think I've seen more than a staff member's hands at one of those places at the rare one where you don't pay a machine.

Maybe she was already dead when the staff showed up, but he'd planned to use that visit to cover himself
