Police said Monday that a woman and her two children were found dead in their Saitama home in an apparent case of murder-suicide.

Police said the bodies were found Sunday by one of the 35-year-old woman's relatives, who received a letter in which the deceased stated her intention to kill herself and her children. TBS reported that the relative went to the woman's two-story apartment t around 2 p.m. Sunday and found the bodies of the two children, an 8-year-old boy and a 6-year-old girl, on the first floor and the woman hanged by the neck on the second floor.

According to police, marks on the necks of the woman's two children were consistent with death by strangulation. Police say the woman's motive is not yet known.

Very sad but it seems that parents here believe their children belong to themselves and are not separate entities. So when the parent decides to take her own life, leaving the children behind to fend for themselves becomes unthinkable.. I believe this is why we read about many of these suicides. Of course there are many reasons other than that. We as foreigners do not subscribe to those thoughts.

I believe that she did not want her kids to suffer too many tragic moments had happen across the world..... I am truly sorry for them.

Seriously? And being strangled to death by your mother without being able to even ask "Why?" isn't a tragic moment? I believe you don't have the faintest clue what this sick excuse for a parent wanted other than for her children to die before she did.

As said many many times, we need to do something about supporting our family, friends and neighbours through difficult times and change the culture of reclusiveness and shame. There is no shame in seeking help! Our society should encurage that for the sake of our next generation. Imagine the desperation this lady must have felt to have to kill her own kids, its a sad case.

I'm sure the 8 year old boy fought for his life

I really don't think people should automatically blame the mother... For instance, there are NO details as to either her "marital" state or her "mental" state - or even her "financial" state for that matter. She may have been completely sane but, knowing how "adoption" is frowned upon in this country, may not have been strong enough, or have enough "skills" to go out and find a job. The six-year old would probably just have started primary school from this April, but primary school classes in Japan end VERY early each day. She would therefore also have needed to find - and pay - someone to look after her children until she came back home. I am not saying she was "right" to end her own and her children's lives but there could have been extenuating circumstances... we will never know...

i saddened by this horrible news !!

i think that a lot of people have kids just to be seen as normal people, then when to much trouble hits the family, some can't take the embarrassment of failing the kids and other pressures in life.

i think that a lot of people are something brain washed to have kids and to do many other difficult things in life, it truly is a massive responsibility to have kids.

i think that governments should become a part of all relationships, and when a kid is desired that the government asses the people to ensure that the people can manage to bring up a heathy kid to adult life. i know that what i think is far from what most people want, but obviously with hard economic times and many other pleasing things do do in life, some can not focus on strong family life. there is nothing to be ashamed about having kids, it is courages and rewarding when done right. there is nothing wrong with refusing to have kids to please your parents , other family, and friends and neighbours.

live your life the way that pleases you the most, don't worry about what others are saying about you especially when your at home enjoying your life !!

if you are planing on having a kid, please consult with the proper professional doctors and professional social workers !!

This is so sad! I can not even imagine what this poor woman had to go through, to end up killing her own kids and then herself! It makes me so sad and even sick to my stomach! RIP??

What a horrible thing to read about in the New Year. The amount of selfishness these days is just mind-boggling.

I really don't understand people like this - people who decided to bring children into this (yes admittedly scary and messed up) world but then they decide they want to 'quit' halfway through. With marriage, you can always get a divorce if you can't stand living with someone else any more. But when you have kids, it is your responsibility UNTIL DEATH to try and do your best for them. That's the responsibility that you sign up for when you agree to have them and it sounds like common sense (right?) but there seem to be so many deadhead parents out there who just don't get it.

The woman was either pathologically selfish or mental or both.

This is so tragic and makes me sad. Now i'm hoping JT is going to post something amusing or uplifting to make my day better........

Rest In Peace to the poor innocent children. What a selfish act by this horrible woman, and how the poor kids must have suffered because of her evil.

No support , and a sickness in society that proclaims suicide less shameful than seeking help. It has to change !

Stupid mental selfish people. They should leave the kids alone!
