Woman arrested after remains of 5 infants discovered at home

Police have arrested a 34-year-old unemployed woman on charges of abandoning the bodies of five babies after their remains were found in her home in Yawatahama, Ehime Prefecture.

According to police, Emi Wakabayashi was arrested on July 14 for abandoning the body of a newborn child in a closet at her home, Fuji TV reported Tuesday. Police made the discovery after they were alerted that Wakabayashi who had been seen in the neighborhood while she was pregnant, no longer appeared to be pregnant.

Following her arrest, police questioned Wakabayashi about her actions and decided to return to her home to search the premises. Officers found the skeletal remains of four other infants in nylon bags at a furniture disposal site outside her apartment building.

Wakabayashi was quoted by police as saying she had been disposing of newborn babies since 2006 and that she had killed one before disposing of its body.

Forensics teams are analyzing DNA samples from the remains of the five deceased children to confirm whether they are all Wakabayashi's. Police said she lives with her father, younger brother and eldest son, but gave no information on who fathered the five children.

Just a yariman. 6 times pregnant and no job. waste of life.

The family should be arrested too for not stopping her.

jeeze that's gruesome. what kind of monster would do that to one newborn let alone five. she does not deserve to be living among humans.

Useless people.

Her standard operating procedure is not helping Japan with it's population decline situation.

I sure as heck hope no one comes on here and starts using the old PPD excuse whenever a psychopath like this pops up, which is far too often. Lock her up for infanticide, min 20 years, and improper disposal of bodies for all five (and if infanticide can be found with the others, give her life for those, too). And lock up the family, too, since they OBVIOUSLY just chose to turn a blind eye to this kind of thing. What a waste, on all counts! RIP to the little babies.

Am I the only one that finds the last sentence the most unnerving?

My wife and I have been trying everything to get pregnant for more than three year including IVF only to fail to miscarriages. This story makes my blood boil and to think that her family MUST have know is pure evil on all parts. Im not a religious man but if some form of hell exists may it be extra hot on her arrival.

Why did the 4 other babies remain unnoticed.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

You'd think her father or her brother would be like, "hey, you were pregnant. Where is the baby?"

Why did the 4 other babies remain unnoticed.

Thinking the same . . . And after the first time, she should've encouraged her men to pull-out quicker or use a condom.

Nope. I can almost hear the banjoes playing from my apartment in Osaka.

Her father, brother and eldest son (total of 3 Men) should also be questioned too. It's impossible that those men living with her have no clue of what have been going on. I have serious doubt that those men may even have contributed to the disposal & murder of babies as well. On worst case scenario, those close relatives of hers might even have fathered those babies themselves.

This woman needs to goto jail for a long long time.

Cases like this crop up in every nation in the world, and they are always extremely puzzling to me.

According to other news sources, in previous years neighbours noticed that she was visibly pregnant and then suddenly not, and all of them assumed that the babies had been either placed in facilities, or farmed out to other relatives. If that's any indication of what sort of family situation she was living in.

Am I the only one that finds the last sentence the most unnerving?

Nope. Duelling banjos on a running loop here.

Was she stressed ...!!!

How odd...to guess at circumstances about which you all know so little, and to be so willing to award guilt, and blame.. Possibilities are endless.Establishing paternity,.will not be difficult.

Why not give the babies up for ADOPTION ? Why KILL them ?

@WA4TKG

True enough. But why not, NOT get pregnant at all?

I know who you are thinking about and they haven't commented yet believe it or not.

If the police suspect incest, as some of you imply, a few tests should easily identify the father of he is family.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Oh no, incest never crossed my mind but now i read it mentioned here and re read the story its sounds possible. Yuck

Does she know that there is contraceptive pills in the pharmacy nearby ..!!

@ Educator, thanks for your post. hopefully she was just a bike and incest was not involved, fingers crossed.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Whether it was incest or not is irrelevant. The children are still dead and the entire household's residents should be considered culpable.

That's why I'm not having kids. I canny handle any kid under 10. I don't know why, but I don't want to take any chances of accidentally hurting a small kid because of my short temper I can get at times.
