Police have arrested a 54-year-old woman on suspicion of assault after she shoved a male acquaintance to the ground, causing him to hit his head and go into a coma, in Shinagawa, Tokyo.

According to police, the incident occurred on Friday night. Fuji TV reported that the woman, Ikue Nishizawa, got into an argument with the 54-year-old man and shoved him near Shinagawa Station. The man fell and hit his head and lost consciousness. He was taken to hospital and remained in a coma on Sunday.

Police said Nishizawa first admitted to the police that she shoved the man away, but she is now denying it.

"freak accident"

I don't think she shoved him by accident which is why there is the crime of MANSLAUGHTER. She may not have meant to kill him but...

Unfortunately, Japan's judicial system doesn't recognize "freak accidents" or even "bad luck." There must always be someone to pin the blame on, to give the bereaved family members comfort. It's a cultural thing.

Its assault until he dies. Then it is manslaughter and she will get a few months in jail and a handy fine to boot.

Woo. She's looking at a GBH rap right now. I hope the guy makes a full recovery.

These big ole noggins seem to go into coma mode rather easily here. I wonder why.

Well, if she claims he interrupted her Pokemon Go Game, she'll get a suspended sentence.
