Woman arrested for assaulting judge in Tokyo District Court toilet

A 39-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting a judge in a toilet at the Tokyo District Court on Tuesday.

According to police, the incident occurred at around 10:30 a.m. in a toilet on the 13th floor of the court building in Chiyoda Ward. Fuji TV reported that the judge, a man in his 30s, had gone into the toilet to wash his hands when he was struck on the head from behind by a cane.

The woman, who was wearing a man's business suit and a wig, was seen running out of the toilet immediately after the attack. She ran into the women’s toilet on the 11th floor where she was detained by police. The woman, identified as Chie Kamata, had the 76-cm-long cane with her when she was arrested.

The judge suffered minor injuries.

Police said Kamata has admitted to the charge and quoted her as saying she was dissatisfied with the judge's ruling in a case.

Maybe the judge couldn’t spare a square

She sounds like a real nut job. The judge was lucky he just got a whack with a cane. Could have been much worse.

I don't think she's going to be happy with the next verdict either.

I'm pretty sure she will think "I will hit harder next time!"

Looks like the Judges in Tokyo Courts may need to review their own Security arrangements.

The most surprising thing about this story is the fact that there is a judge in Japan in his 30s!

judges go to the bathroom with the public in courthouses? That is not right

Somehow it just feels like doing it in the toilet added insult to injury. I probably wouldn't have noticed this article if it hadn't mentioned toilet in the headline which gives the whole story a bizarre twist. The fact that she was wearing a wig to disguise herself was a real hidden gem, so I can say that I'm glad I stayed to read the whole thing to discover that tidbit.

She will also be charged with contempt of a toilet break.

Kamata has admitted to the charge and quoted her as saying she was dissatisfied with the judge's ruling in a case.

Nutjob.

But now the judge is in a quandary. How can I give a suspended sentence to this woman and not look like a wuss

The proper method Fid dealing with disatisfaction of a ruling is an appeal.

Dissatisfied with the result so go and do something that is surely going to get you in more trouble? Must've made sense to her...

She was probably hoping to give him another chance to make a ruling she was satisfied with. I don't think she's going to be happy with the next verdict either.
