Woman arrested for attempted murder after throwing newborn son out the window

Police in Funabashi, Chiba Prefecture, have arrested a 22-year-old woman on suspicion of attempted murder after she threw her newborn son out a window. The infant's injuries are not life-threatening, police said.

According to police, Miho Ishihara gave birth to her son at home on the night of April 24, Sankei Shimbun reported. Around 10 p.m., police received a phone call about an infant crying. Police responded to the call and found the baby on the ground.

Police said Ishihara has admitted throwing the baby out the second-floor window and leaving him on the ground due to what she said was her “inability to deal with the situation.” However, police said Ishihara insisted she never intended to kill the baby.

Ishihara has since been hospitalized and will be charged after she recovers, police said.

As usual, we don't have all the details. Could be mental health issues, or something darker.

This is a miracle baby to be thrown out of a 2nd story window and have non life threatening injuries. I pray the baby can find a good home and lose ties with this unfit mother.

It is very fortunate, but newborns are much more resilient than what you would expect from them, in the middle of tragic news about violence and accidents many times you can read babies getting away with very serious things.

She never intended to kill him... just wanted to see if he could fly, I guess. Lock her up!

How does this even enter a persons mind set as being OK to do?

How do these women think this was the right thing to do? Babies are not disposable.

Fortunately infanticide is rare for all animal species but, nevertheless, murdering mothers will always be found within the spectrum of human primate behavior. Such individuals need psychiatric help, but must never be allowed to breed again. I hope she will atone for her appalling deed with a future life of good works.

What's wrong with people of this country? Those kind of news are reported on a weekly basis here!

Why there is so much lack of love and empathy in this country? Even for your own babies??

There is no lack of love and empathy in Japan. Such a statement indicates a lack of intimate acquaintance with the natives.

There is nothing wrong with the people of Japan. Any comparative culture from The West, appears barbaric if one's measure is abuse of progeny or abject cruelty to one's fellows, especially the young. Let alone the incredible capacity for physical violence in cultures of Europe or European heritage, such as the USA.

Have a chat with any Social Worker, tending to the problems of the youth in such as the states or European nations. The level of abuse is beyond measure.

Japan. The incidence of abuse and cruelty towards the newly born, infants or children is not in league with other so-called developed nations.

“inability to deal with the situation.”

Like giving berth? But conceiving was OK, was it? That you could deal with OK, was it? What a pathetic individual!!!

However, police said Ishihara insisted she never intended to kill the baby.

Err what? She threw him out of the window. Heck, I am afraid of even holding a new born for fear of breaking something.

Then what were you thinking when you threw the kid out of the window, then? I already lost count how many mother-child crimes I've read this April, I don't even know what to say.

I guess the rate of infanticide is directly dependable of the population density as well as birth rate.

I can understand not wanting the child but could never understand throwing a helpless newborn (out of a window). The police will wait until she recovers to charge her? How sweet. Are they going to read her some bedtime stories too, to help in the recovery process? Charge her now. So glad the child will be alright.

But she did show great ability to lay down with a man, yeah, but not resposnible enough to deal with the consequences and pending situation?

I am very sure the child welfare system will eventually have her take back the child, give her a few days of parental training and we will hear about this baby again in the news.

Why not place the baby is a loving family and sever all ties with the mother until the child is ready to find his mother when he's older?
