Woman arrested for attempted murder of son in Tochigi

Police said Wednesday they have arrested a woman in Haga, Tochigi Prefecture, for the attempted murder of her 17-year-old son.

The suspect, identified as Yukari Mizunuma, 37, is accused of attacking the boy with a kitchen knife at their home on Monday, TBS reported.

According to police, Mizunuma had been drinking and was having dinner with her two sons at around 10:30 p.m. when an altercation arose over the location of her cell phone charger, TBS reported.

Police say Mizunuma's eldest son began to bicker with his younger brother before turning on his mother, reportedly telling her to "shut up." Police say Mizunuma flew into a rage. As her son turned to leave the room, she allegedly began to slash at his back with a kitchen knife while screaming, "I'll kill you," it was reported.

The boy fled and called the police, TBS said. Officers say the remnants of a carton of wine and shochu, a distilled Japanese spirit, were found at the home.

Mizunuma's son is believed to have sustained minor injuries to his shoulder in the attack. Mizunuma is to be charged with attempted murder, police said.

And of course, the police think that this is the 100% only cause of the whole mess. Case closed?

"... when an altercation arose over the location of her cell phone charger..."

And once again we have a ridiculous reason for attacking another. Granted, she was soussed up and the kid lipped her off, but still. What's with all the women stabbing people these days?

The mother is absolutely wrong being drunk infront of her kids. Plus she is absolutely wrong for attacking her son over him telling her to shut up, although he should not be talking to his mom like that. But that shows you what kind of a mother she is if he feels its ok to talk like that to his mom.

I wonder did he say: urusai or damare?

What's with all the women stabbing people these days?

Historically, men will usually use their fists first while women will usually use weapons first. In cases where women initiate the attack, the injuries are often more severe because of the use of weapons than when men initiate the attack. In real life, a frying pan to the side of your head does not just leave an "egg". Your skull could be fractured/crushed.

(And before someone screams: ) Yes, I know men use weapons. There are exceptions to EVERY generalization - including the ones I make. I was just pointing out tendencies, not absolute rules.

Dinner at 10:30pm? No wonder the kid was grumpy, Mother smashed out of her brain on booze and having to wait for something to eat before his bedtime.

the sad part is i bet her charger was like under her purse or something. Women, am i rite fellas!

She left her charger at another man's house or the love hotel. It's good this monster got arrested. I'm sure she has abused her husband physically as well.

There is a silver lining here though. None of you gave the typical answer "She needs help". That's good. So I'll say it for you. She'll get all the help she needs behind bars hopefully.
