Police in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture, have arrested a 43-year-old woman on suspicion of attempting to kill her 47-year-old husband.

According to police, the suspect, Yumiko Matsuda, stabbed her husband in the left shoulder with a knife at around 2 a.m. Wednesday. Sankei Shimbun reported that the woman then called 119.

Police rushed to the scene and found Matsuda's husband in the living room. He was taken to hospital but his condition is not life-threatening. Police said he was stabbed by a knife with a 15-cm-long blade that was found at the scene.

Police said the suspect was drunk when they arrived. She was quoted as saying she didn't intend to kill her husband, but has so far given no motive for the attack.

I think it said he was sleeping so how could he provoke her... And if he did why the shoulder?

"...attempting to kill..." If she did, Mrs. Masuda wouldn't have stabbed her husband on the shoulder! And she wouldn't have called 119! The key is why? She was drunk, but not too drunk, and something the husband did or said must have triggered the violent action or reaction, maybe?

An attempted murder stuff at the crack of the new year, though it occurred at the end of last year. Um, never change. :‑(

Anyhow, it's good for the husband to have escaped death.

But, in her defence, let's not forget that, some Japanese men can be r-soles.
