Police in Utsunomiya, Tochigi Prefecture, have arrested a 41-year-old woman on suspicion of attempted murder after she beat her husband with a metal bat and stabbed him while he was sleeping.
According to police, the suspect, Kaori Ishikawa, hit her husband Yoshio with a metal bat and also stabbed him with a knife, while he slept, at their home at around 6:30 a.m. Sunday. Fuji TV reported that the couple's teenage son called police who rushed to the scene. The victim was taken to hospital with head injuries but his condition is stable, police said Monday.
Police said Ishikawa has admitted to attacking her husband but denied intending to kill him.

"Yes your honor, I beat and stabbed him while he was sleeping and defenseless, but I wasn't trying to kill him. I just wanted him to listen"

Beat him with a metal bat and also stabbed him but it wasn't intended to kill him, just playing with him?! What the heck is wrong?!

She was just trying to wake him up, of course. I mean, he was still sleeping at 6:30 a.m. on a Sunday morning, for goodness sake!!

My friend used a 2 x 4 to barricade himself in his bedroom because his wife always threatened him with a knife.

Damn, he survived being hit with a bat and being stabbed multiple times? heesh

Is that enough reason here to give the man full custody if they divorce or would the woman still win?

Man, probably get yanked at all day and now cant even get some respite from the wife even when asleep. Sad life, dude needs to go find someone else. Oh yeah, 6:30 am on Sunday, isnt he supposed to be doing that ridiculous family service idea that Japan has?

that name "Kaori" rings a bell, oh one was named that also who took out her hubby while he was snoozing for a bruising in their high end penthouse in Shibuya back in the day, then reports said she tossed his remains like a salad around tokyo.

unfortunately, too much orwellian prevails for analysis.

This is what happens when the woman gives you the silent treatment, and the man plays along....

Sometimes when you over sleep for work, your wife wakes you up with a bat on the head and knife in the gut.. A little ticklish but should get you up and off to work..

At least 5 of my friends have experienced a knife wielding wife in the night. It is more common than you think in Japan. The metal bat is a bit of a odd ball though. Definitely toilet seats down and will never fart under the futon and shout burglars again.

"after she beat her husband with a metal bat and stabbed him while he was sleeping." Guy must be a sound sleeper...

"Never go to sleep angry. Because you never know if you or the person you're mad at will wake up the next morning. Always forgive someone. Because you never know if you'll talk to them again. Things happen. Get over it. Always forgive. You may not forget. But it's better than knowing you'll never get to say sorry or I love you again."
Or, if you prefer, from the Bible: Ephesians 4:26-27
"Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and give no opportunity to the devil."

Ah, she was probably just trying to wake him up and he's a deep sleeper, then. We all know there will be no punishment for this.

I thought in the modern age people took photos of their bruises, told friends, etc. The phrase a woman scorned resonates deeply. I live with two female roommates. Disagree with them, orignore them, and they become...willfull. And in that state they feel completely justified in breaking anything they want to. And it will always be yours. And they will never pay for it. And these are women old enought to know better.

I wonder what the reason was for her to act out this aggressively... probably some sort of affair or just a mental disorder
