Police in Ibara, Okayama Prefecture, said Saturday they have arrested a 71-year-old woman on suspicion of killing her 74-year-old husband by drowning him in the bathtub at their home.
According to police, Noriko Mori drowned her husband Mineo in the bathtub at around 9 p.m. on Thursday. Fuji TV reported that Mineo’s body was found Friday morning by an employee of a daycare service. She called 119.
The Moris lived alone. Police said Noriko has admitted to killing her ailing husband and said she hinted at being worn out from looking after him.

That poor man. Devoted his life to his wife and his family, and instead of seeking help, she offs him. He must've been terrified!

but that's not how the courts will see it

What’s another day in Japan without another family murder? This scenario just keeps on repeating itself over and over again without anybody taking any steps to prevent it.

It's sad that the government, both now and historically, does nothing to help it's most fragile citizens out in their time of need. Even after a lifetime of giving themselves over to the state.

Hopefully with the forthcoming relaxation of work visas there will be greater availability of affordable home care.

if you already admitted to killing the guy, why just hint at the reason you did it

Spot on its a straight out case of murder because she was too lazy to ask for help

I do admire the sentiment and the possibilities of the above statement, but the reality is very different. The influx of foreign care workers is only to deal with the current shortage of care workers. It does not include expending the program to include the tens of thousands of people who are home prisoners to their ailing spouses and parents.

How do you know she didn’t ask for help?

Know something we don't? How do you now he devoted his life to his wife and his family? Perhaps he asked her to do it or told her to. Maybe he physically and mentally abused his whole family. My speculation is as unsubstantiated as yours!

it's still murder even though she's tired and she thought she had a good reason

I just read the title and knew this was the reason. I said it once and I'll say it again "The old taking care of the older has to change!"
