Woman arrested for dumping newborn baby’s corpse in drugstore toilet

Police in Fujimino, Saitama Prefecture, have arrested a 37-year-old woman on suspicion of abandoning the corpse of her newborn boy in the toilet of a drugstore last November.

Police said Miyuki Matsubara, who lives in Kasukabe and has no fixed occupation, has admitted to giving birth in the toilet and quoted her as saying she disposed of her baby because she had no money to be able to raise him, Fuji TV reported.

Police said an analysis of store surveillance camera footage showed a heavily pregnant Matsubara and a man — later identified as her 28-year-old unemployed boyfriend — going into the toilet at the exterior of the store at 1 p.m. on Nov 2. They emerged after about 15 minutes. Matsubara then told a store employee that the toilet wasn’t working and seemed to be blocked.

The upper half of the infant’s body was found in the toilet at around 8:30 p.m. by a maintenance man. The lower part of the baby’s corpse was not found.

Police said a DNA test showed Matsubara to be the mother of the baby.

Why wasn't the boyfriend also arrested? Or, was he arrested later, and that bit left out of the article?

Oh dear God !

So they cut the baby in half and tried to flush it? oh my God these people need to go away forever. Hope that baby haunts them until the day they cross over

I'm surprised there was even such a place open considering Japanese people are even stealing toilet paper now

The crime occurred in November; these things take time to work through the court system.

Pity the poor maintenance man who found half the baby’s body in the toilet. Not something he’s going to get over in a hurry.

There is no limit to human evil... And to stupidity, if they could not afford or don't want a baby, there are various contraceptive methods

No they didn't. They perhaps put the baby feet first in the toilet and tried to flush it where the torso clogged the toilet, thus the vacuum from the flushing caused the tender, thin new baby skin to be separated. I've seen 2 cases like this before.

That's sick! Who does that?

No words can describe this act,

I apologize readers, but I'm just at a loss of words and need to get my thoughts back as I mull this over. I mean how is this even possible without some kind of emotional remorse. I understand not being able to afford raising a child but there was plenty of time to find a home for this child as many childless couples are out there and would do just about anything to have one, illegally or adoption in Japan. There are volunteers who are willing to take in the child. I understand there isn't much in foster care in Japan but there are people out there in this country willing to offer human acts of kindness. At age 37 is enough age as well as the 28 yr old. The had enough age to create a child right? At 28 yrs old with so many jobs out there he could have gotten 2 or 3 jobs to help raise this child. No excuses. AS for punishment one can only hope that real justice is served.

All life is precious.

No matter how small.

Just because a baby can't speak up for itself doesn't mean that terminating its life is somehow the right thing to do.

Our society must put the utmost value on the value of human life.

No arguments here.

My words may be harsh but for a woman with no fixed occupation and an unemployed boyfriend...why conceive??? common sense!!!

Agreed, but once she does. That life becomes precious and she has no right to terminate her baby's life.

So, they cut the baby in half and flushed the legs first? You have to be pooping me! That is beyond comprehension! How could anybody do such a macabre thing to a newborn baby? It just defies my logic completely.

This is what happens in part when you have no baby hatches because of too much red tape... and of course, when you have insane poeple like these two nutbags. I hope they get life in prison, but given this is Japan and it was their own baby they murdered, I figure 1.5 - 2 years, max.

You can’t raise a dead baby. She KILLED her baby because she had no money.

OMG what type of work do you do if you've to see something as horrid as this?

woman.......sigh.

You are acting like a 17 year old who got knocked up! You're 37! Be an adult!

Clearly your spectacular boyfriend isn't going to step up and adult, so you have to.

It's real simple. GET A JOB or keep it in your pants. Or both.

That is absolutely despicable, no other words....

Japanese culture of shame, it's no good.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

so... it only took 15 minutes to deliver AND attempt to “dispose”?

PLUS, after e delivering a baby, the boyfriend made HER approach the store employee to report the malfunction?

This headline is misleading too. It sounds like the baby was already dead, but once you read the article, it becomes apparent they killed the baby

sad story

So they cut the baby in half and tried to flush it?

Apparently so. Pretty gruesome. Then again, is this not fundamentally the same as a partial birth abortion, something that the PC people are advocating?

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Why not more baby hatches in Japan? Its very sad that this was the option she chose.

That's sick! Who does that?

People who believe in abortion?

Here in the U.S. we have the Democratic Party (liberals) that support abortion - of course the baby's body is disposed in a more humane manner (if that's what you want to call it).

What a BULL excuse …. No Money to raise the baby … How about if you & your boyfriend get jobs.

I have no money so I'll kill my new born baby and then everything is OK. This is pre-meditated murder,  they both went  into the toilet at 1 p.m. They emerged after about 15 minutes. I doubt they both made a split second decision to kill the baby, this was planed. So the upper part of the babies body was found not the lower part SO what did they do CUT the baby in pieces and flush the pieces down the toilet ???  What a sad story ..... RIP little one.
