Woman arrested for fatally stabbing 14-year-old daughter

Police on Tuesday arrested a 37-year-old woman for allegedly stabbing to death her 14-year-old daughter at their apartment in Oyama, Tochigi Prefecture.

According to police, the suspect, identified as Yoko Numabe, called emergency services at about 6 a.m. Tuesday and said she had stabbed her daughter. TBS reported that police rushed to the scene and found the girl suffering from a stab wound to the neck. She was taken to hospital where she died on Tuesday night.

Police said Numabe and her daughter lived by themselves. Numabe has so far given no motive for the attack, police said.

Society is sick ......and this sickness cannot be treated where there are feelings of shame and stigmatisation.

This woman is sick.

She is not the only responsible party. Japanese society gives the child's custody only to one parent, usually the mother. The father usually has to stay away, and the lonely mother who was enticed to look after the child might have never been the right one. Here they treat all cases the same, and they end up paying a heavy price for that. Ridiculous J.

another emotional fight, mother could not control her emotions and stabbed her. What a pity.

I couldn't imagine how that poor girl felt as she looked up at her mother the woman that got her that far in life ....breaks the heart just thinking about that. I hope they lock this woman up and put up a picture across from her cell of her daughter smiling at her everyday . Such a senseless crime against a young person.

14 yo is about the age when the educational pressure cooker is turned on full blast. The kids have to study hours and hours on end to get into a HS. Typically I see the kids could give a hoot but the mother succumbs to peer pressure and just harasses the kid to no end. Then the kid will obviously rebel from this mindless pressure. Result is huge family strife. Very common.

According to the vernacular Sankei News, the mother phoned school on the 2nd and said the girl wasn't coming in for club activities, though she didn't have a cold. When the girl didn't turn up at school on Monday, the club coach and the vice-principal called round at the home to see if she was OK, and the mother refused to let them see her. The teachers must have though this was more than strange, because they then took the matter up with the Child Welfare Office - though apparently not speedily enough.

They also report that the mother had been telling neighbours that she had been having trouble because her daughter 'wouldn't talk to her'.

Wow. I hope this sort of headline isn't in my future. But then, this sort of thing is why Japanese men are taught to avoid women even when it comes to pleasantries. Cool-headed Japanese girls may need to be taught the same. I wonder if its this type of personality that Christianity was meant for, the kind of person who can only be calmed by promises of blamelessness & love without obligations. This is all so sad.

Not going to happen to me either. These "child minded/pressured" people need to think before they pop out kids. Wow kill her after 14 years? Pathetic. What did that solve? Nothing. I hope she spends the rest of her life in a cell.

Well then, today's Japanese infanticide article has a macabre kind of twist, doesn't it? I wonder why she stabbed her 14 year old daughter?

Financial difficulties?

Kid lazy at home?

Or, mother completely insane?

Sadly, I fear it is a combination of all the above.

We don't know what goes on behind closed doors. Mother and daughter at each others throats over all sorts of things eventually the mother can't take it and explodes without thinking. Teens can really feel their oats when they reach a certain age and rebel as many parents know. It is sad when we read these news items very often here.

It's sad that the girl died, but I won't pass judgement because I've seen first-hand what some 14-year-olds are capable of doing to an adult. This could have been instigated by either the mother or the daughter. We don't know what the daughter was doing when the mother stabbed her in the neck.

I guess it's been... what? about a week since the last mother-of-the-year? If this woman's problem is that her daughter "wouldn't talk (to her)" then I've got a news flash: unless this mother can speak to the dead, her daughter's going to be talking a WHOLE lot less now, and will be far more distant. Sick woman. Poor girl.

Some parents seem to be taking out their frustrations on their kids, and vice versa... it's like familial murders are becoming more and more common and for the most pathetic reasons.

What a sick horrible twisted wretched !!&@%# OF A WOMAN!! May she burn in hell for all of eternity for doing this to her own child!!!

In Japan, parents are so not prepared for the new and trendy teenage generation!! In my opinion, need to make a full stop, have a hard look around and take notice on what teenagers are in these days, then try your best to compromise.
