Police on Monday said they have arrested a 29-year-old unemployed women for spraying mace in the women's toilet at Takadanobaba Station in Tokyo on July 30. After the attack that took place at 10:30 p.m., seven women were taken to hospital, complaining of eye and throat pain after they were sprayed.
Police identified the suspect as Maya Kashiwagi, who lives in Sagamihara, Kanagawa Prefecture. Fuji TV reported that surveillance camera footage showed Kashiwagi running to the JR Yamanote line platform after the attack and getting on a train.
Police said Kashiwagi has confessed to the attack and quoted her as saying she got irritated at standing in a line to get into the toilet.© Japan Today
