Woman arrested for kicking 2-year-old boy inside elevator at Fukuoka station

Police in Fukuoka have arrested a 35-year-old unemployed woman on suspicion of assault after she allegedly kicked a two-year-old boy inside an elevator at JR Hakata Station Building.

According to police, the incident occurred at around 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Sankei Shimbun reported. Namie Konno is accused of kicking the boy in the side. A security guard at the shopping complex contacted the police after the child’s parents complained.

Police said Konno has denied the charge and quoted her as saying, “The child was sprawled on the elevator’s floor and rolled onto my foot, so I just moved my foot to get it out of the way.”

What’s with adults kicking toddlers lately?

Were you there to see this alleged kick? Maybe the woman is telling the truth and the parents are incapable of controlling their two year old child.

"35-year-old unemployed woman"

What do you find strange or unusual about someone being unemployed?

Didn’t say the accused did as ‘alleged’ @Harry_Gatto 5:35pm. - But my question remains:

Don't elevators usually have security footage? Without that it just seems like a case of "he said, she said".

Kick my kid and the perp cops a size 11 steel cap boot. Lock her up!

She as a bad day!

These days kids can cry and cry, shout and shout, roll around and their parents say NOTHING. I don't blame that woman even if she intentionally did so.

I agreed with you up until the last part. No one should ever intentionally kick a two-year-old child for any reason. I don't particularly like children being around me but it's mainly because of parents' lack of properly supervising them.

5 ( +11 / -6 )

Just because its a kid everyone believes what the parents said perhaps the parents need to control their child!

Show me the BRUISE! And letting your toddler roll around on the floor of a public elevator in a train station is, at least for this biologist, child neglect and endangerment, unless one believes that exposing their children to every possible pathological organism in their milieu and beyond strengthens their immune systems...

"Kick my kid and the perp cops a size 11 steel cap boot. Lock her up!"

Given the general quality of your comments, I have no doubt you routinely walk around in steel-toed boots...

I see kids sprawled on the floor at least once a month, screaming kids often. I'm sure in "family friendly" areas, it happens a lot more. Since the parents are oblivious to the public annoyance caused, I've come close to saying "urusai" many times. But kicking? Hmmm...

-3 ( +4 / -7 )

No bruise = no kick.

Next person to annoy for no reason please !

-7 ( +2 / -9 )

Sure, he rolled onto her foot.

When I was about ten I thought a great way of getting out of trouble for hitting my sister was to claim I was just innocently holding my fist up and she walked into it.

That story never worked for me, either.

Harry_Gatto - Maybe the woman is telling the truth and the parents are incapable of controlling their two year old child.

That's still no excuse.

Fukuoka is a major station. I find it VERY hard to believe that the elevators there are not equipped with cameras. IF the woman was detained and the footage was viewed, then it should be an open and shut case.

That's still no excuse.

No excuse for what? Moving her foot and getting it out of the way?

If anyone, man or woman, had booted my little girl when she was two, it would have been a very steep learning curve for the assailant.

I don't give a ** what the excuse may be, there is none. Children are delicate. They can't resist or fight back. **You just don't go kicking a kid!

It's never okay to physically abuse a child.

No it isn't Never ever.

What’s with adults **kicking **toddlers lately****?

Were you there to see this alleged kick? Maybe the woman is telling the truth and the parents are incapable of controlling their two year old child.

I don't give a ** what the excuse may be, there is none. Children are delicate. They can't resist or fight back. ***You just don't go kicking a kid!*

It's never okay to physically abuse a child.

No it isn't Never ever.

Some of you seem to have a problem with basic comprehension.

What’s with adults **kicking **toddlers lately****? This implies that the writer agrees that the woman kicked the child and I observed that she may not have done so and was maybe telling the truth when she said that the child was on the floor and rolled onto her foot which she pulled away.

Someone else said "That's still no excuse" implying that they think that the woman may have actually kicked the child and that I was defending her regarding her alleged kick.

Then you go on with your "I don't give a ** what the excuse may be, there is none. Children are delicate. They can't resist or fight back. ***You just don't go kicking a kid!" *which means that you also assume that the woman actually kicked the child.

I didn't say that she didn't kick the child nor did I assume that she did. I wasn't there and neither were any of you.

Perhaps you shouldn’t speak for others and what you think they may have ‘implied’ *@Harry_Gatto***? **

Your @5:35pm question was addressed @5:45pm and invited any additional commentary about recent events:

“*Didn’t say the accused did as ‘alleged’ @Harry … But my question remains*”:

I'm sorry but I tend to believe the women is being falsely accused. Or at least wrongly accused. Seems to me like the parents are the ones who are looking to gain from this situation...at the expense of their child.
