Police in Koshigaya, Saitama Prefecture, said Friday they have arrested a 24-year-old woman on suspicion of robbing a DVD and CD rental store on Dec 24.
Police said the woman, Misana Koyama, has admitted to the charge and quoted her as saying she needed the money for a date with her boyfriend on Christmas Eve.
According to police, Koyama entered the store — where she used to work part-time — at around 5 a.m. on Dec 24, Sankei Shimbun reported. She threatened the 41-year-old male employee with a knife and demanded money from the cash register. She then fled with about 125,000 yen.
Police said Koyama was identified through store surveillance camera footage.

What a dumb Broad ..... was your date with him really worth your freedom ?????
DaDude
I thought guys were supposed to pay.....
Do the hustle
That would make for one heck of a Christmas Eve date. She’s obviously not the sharpest tool in the shed though.

Way to bring home the bacon girl! The location of this robbery should not be any surprise.

Her boyfriend now knows he should be careful when breaking up with her. Sometimes ghosting is not that bad.

@Bintaro
There is no safer time to break up with her than while she is in prison.
In a way, I’m moved. She actually wanted to do something nice for her boyfriend and take him out.

Wow, wish my ex felt that way about me.

I guess her boyfriend is not a cheap date...

Move to a new apartment. Block her on all messaging apps.
If you value your safety, never contact her again.

Though the woman needs to be punished and do some jail time, this is kinda sad.
Disappointed with all the sarcastic comments.

There is likely more to the story- she was maybe drunk- she maybe had some grudge with the store owber- Its a sad story- her life should not be ruined by what was likely a rash decision. Amusing to read all the judgemental comments--We all make mistakes.

Wow, this happened at 5 am? And the date was later that night? Talk about being well prepared.
By the way, that's a lot of 24s in the story.
I'm guessing because of the time of the robbery, the store was also opened for 24 hours a day?
and I'm the 24th comment!!!!! winning!

I suspect this isn't the real reason; she may be afraid or ashamed to say the truth, she may have some grudges against her ex-workmates, etc. She may not have a real boyfriend for all we know... perhaps a hosto who's aiming to be number 1?
I should stop watching Ushijima the Loan Shark. LOL

The most shocking thing for me in the story was that a DVD rental shop is making that much money still.

Who are you to call her by -chan?

Being disappointed with the sarcastic comments. I believe those are a byproduct of her story or incorrect translations within the story.
She held up a store at knife point, a store where she used to work, a place where it would be easy to recognize her, and risk her own freedom because she wanted to take her boyfriend out on a date? Clearly that is not the reason. The seriousness of her crime alone speaks that there were other things at work here than what she is saying. Maybe she did; however, I think most people do not view it as the real reason behind her crime and because of that, it is much easier for us to make light of the situation.

cd and dvd rental store? those things still open? I thought the only ones survived are the porn variety?
Akie
A lot of crimes in Japan today. That is the reality, sadly.
