Police in Tokyo's Koto Ward have arrested a 35-year-old woman on suspicion of attempting to rob a convenience store.

According to police, the suspect, Kayoko Ando, entered a Sunkus store at around 6 a.m. Tuesday. Fuji TV reported that she threatened the 40-year-old male employee with a knife and demanded money. The man grabbed the knife and then the woman took a small hammer out of her bag.

In the scuffle, the convenience store employee received a light injury to his hand before he subdued the woman.

Police said Ando entered the store once before the robbery attempt and believe she was casing the store. So far, she has refused to speak about the incident, police said.

I believe there are two kinds of criminals in this world. There are the clever criminals and the caught criminals. Try to rib a convenience store has to be one of the stupidest ideas a criminal could every have. There security cameras everywhere, the staff are trained to throw dye balls and the cash is regularly removed from the registers. Just stoopid!

That's one thing I admire about women. They always seem better prepared for contingencies. If it was a man, once the knife is gone, the robbery would've been over.

Not trying to make this a gender issue but I think if it was a man, the chances of the clerk trying to take the knife away would have been lower.

Hundred Yen hammer weighing 10gms? perhaps.
