Police in Fukuoka have arrested a 34-year-old Romanian woman on suspicion of suffocating her one-year-old daughter to death.

According to police, Diana Ene suffocated her daughter, Yuria Takayama, to death at their apartment in Sawara Ward at around 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Fuji TV reported. When Ene’s husband returned home from work on Tuesday night, he found Yuria unconscious in her bedroom and called 119.

The child was taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead. Police said doctors found no external signs of injury on Yuria’s body.

Police said Ene was arrested based on information given by her husband, but did not give details. They said Ene has remained silent since her arrest.

One year old is not too late for SIDS. And with SIDS, "no external signs of injury on Yuria’s body" is exactly what would be found. And this nightmare of infanticide accusations has affected many mothers who are in a deep state of traumatic shock and who may be only moderately coherent. So, before we condemn this woman, there is large room for doubt that this is a deliberate or insanity inspired death. Only at autopsy, and a medical examiner familiar with crib death will this woman's truth be known for sure. How horrible life can become in just a moment... and details make all the difference.

Very Interesting!! Police in Fukuoka have arrested a 34-year-old Romanian woman on suspicion of suffocating her one-year-old daughter to death. Arrested on suspicion based on what the husband said?

Police said Ene was arrested based on information given by her husband, but did not give details. They said Ene has remained silent since her arrest. Wow perhaps she is silent because she can't speak Japanese, being from Romania. Perhaps she doesn't know what the husband told the police. Very interesting there is more to this.

We do not know that this tragic death was caused by the mother at present

lets not jump to conclusions

it may just be a natural death, we should always have an open mind however upsetting the story is

Lamilly

That is so sad that a mother would do that to her child

We do not know what the mother did to her child. The article says there was no sign of injury, and the she was arrested on the basis of what the hubby SAID. This is very vague and flimsy. I hope there is more substance to this case than just an accusation.

And just what is her excuse here? Killing a one-year-old baby, that's insane. RIP little girl, you never even lived.

It was written on April 1st, so I hope it's a very poorly planned joke.

We don't know what really happened. Although it's a horrible thing to do, I can't say I condemn her either way. I lived in Fukuoka for 2 years as a single mother of a preschooler and oftentimes I hit rock bottom and contemplated suicide. I never hurt my daughter, but one time I cried so hard the neighbors called the police. And the first thing the police did when they came to my house was to ask me to wake up my daughter and checked her for physical injuries. They never asked me why I was crying or screaming.

There are ZERO mental health options for nationals, let alone for foreigners. Unless you pay huge amounts of money of course. Visits to the mental institutions are not covered by insurance. I went to the city hall's free counselor for help and they literally told me there's nothing they could do. They only asked about my sleep patterns, if I was abused or if I ever hurt my child.

It could be SIDS like someone mentioned, it could be something else. The fact that the husband said she's the one who suffocated the daughter is actually terrifying. You can understand how much "love" the woman received from her husband.

It's not summer yet, but sometimes it gets really hot in Fukuoka. I didn't have an air conditioner and one night I had to call the ambulance because I wasn't able to breathe in the house and I was worried for my daughter. Luckily she was fine, but I had to get a brain CT scan because of the heat stroke.

So we should never jump to conclusions before we learn the whole story!!
