Police in Osaka said Monday they have arrested a 30-year-old woman on suspicion of fatally abusing her 9-month-old daughter in January.
According to police, Hiromi Nasu dropped her second daughter Yuzuha several times from shoulder height to the floor between 6 and 8 p.m. on Jan 9 at her family’s apartment in Asahi Ward, causing the baby to lose consciousness, Fuji TV reported. Nasu called for an ambulance and Yuzuha was taken to hospital where she died six days later due to internal bleeding of the brain caused by a skull fracture.
Doctors suspected abuse and notified police. Nasu told them that Yuzuha had fallen out of her bed.
On March 6, at a Buddhist memorial ceremony marking 49 days since Yuzuha’s death, Nasu admitted to her husband that she had abused her daughter and turned herself in to police. She was quoted as saying she was stressed from child-rearing.
Nasu lived with her husband and three children. Nasu was at home alone with Yuzuha at the time of the incident. Police said neither of the other two children, aged 3 and 2, showed signs of abuse.

I don't doubt she was stressed, with three small children to care for, but it's still murder. I'd like to see the follow-up story telling us her sentence, if any, because she still has two children to care for.

This just tears my heart out. And the way she did it, dropping her daughter on to the floor several times while the baby was probably crying in pain and fear from the one person she was supposed to be safest with.
Nasu needs to go to jail. Being stressed from child-rearing is not an excuse. She could have given her up for adoption and given her a chance at a happy life. She didn't have to kill her. Lock her up.

I just can't get over this kind of article every time. I guess Japanese mothers have very high stress when it comes to child rearing. Before I had my kids I told my husband I will never leave my job to be a full time house wife/mother because it's not who I am. It gets crazy most of the time but it's get better in time. Unfortunately raising kids does not have a special instruction that comes with it, you just have to be fully committed in what you do. She's lucky enough she sees her husband every night mine is out there on deployment. I just lost respect and sympathy on this woman!

A 3yo, a 2yo and a 9-month old. That's a handful but no excusing the murder of her baby. Was it her way of telling her husband she didn't want to have more kids?

She needs to be locked up for life. She is not a fit mother and definitely shouldn't be around her remaining children. she should also be sterilized to prevent her from ever having children again. death penalty would be best
