Police in Katori, Chiba Prefecture, have arrested a 32-year-old woman on suspicion of causing the death of her 69-year-old mother after hitting her in the face with her elbow.
According to police, Kumika Sato, a part-time worker, struck her mother Yukie in the face with her elbow multiple times after 7 p.m. on Saturday at their home, Kyodo News reported. Sato placed an emergency call later Saturday night and said her mother had strangled herself.
Yukie was rushed to the hospital while unconscious and later pronounced dead. The hospital contacted police who questioned Sato.
Police said Sato has admitted to assaulting her mother during an argument.

Maybe so many people in this country shouldn’t be living with their parents into their 30’s and beyond. Not that hard to get a lousy job with a lousy salary and lousy apartment.

Parents should never insist to live with their adult son. It's exhauting.

Millions of young adults live with their parents. Why should they stop just because of this one case?

This incident is not an isolated one, and in fact these cases are only rising daily in Japan where adult children are taking the lives of their parents and there seems to be no remorse.

Oh no, not again
So many people flipping there lid and committing crimes so heinous that they would shock the most hardened man.
We need better social services to help people cope with life before they turn mental and things like this happen.

@Quo Primum Because it is one too many!! And often, son kills father, daughter kills mother. Where is the love? Two articles today points this out.

It seems the pattern is that there is no system-wide support for elder care in Japan, and many adults have the burden of caring for the elderly. Anyone who cared for an elder relative know how emotional/phsyciall draining it can be to the point of stress.
