Poor guy, tough situation for him even before this
Illogical
She killed him because "she was afraid if him committing her to an institution"? Well she has done the work for him in the worst possible way.

He obviously would have been right to do so.

So, today's family murder has a real twist. The main difference with this one is, she had been diagnosed with mental illness prior to the murder instead of after.

I hope she gets the treatment and attention she needs. Tragic case, as ever.

Tragic indeed.
Assuming he had the ability to commit her, the husband had a difficult choice whether to commit her, and he ultimately made the wrong choice.
How hard is it to commit someone in Japan? In the U.S., I believe it takes at least two people, one being a doctor, and maybe just the doctor if there is a risk of harm to one's self or another. I recall it is a slippery slope though. Once committed, there are six month evaluations before one can be released, but hospitals generally want to keep paying customers....

I think there are some words missing from this sentence. "Saying that his wife was violent and refused to come into the house"? "Saying that his wife threatened him"?
