Police in Tsuchiura, Ibaraki Prefecture, have arrested a 43-year-old woman on suspicion of murder after she stabbed her 41-year-old husband at their home.

According to police, the incident occurred at around 12:30 a.m. Thursday, Fuji TV reported. Police said Junko Ikeda stabbed her husband Atsushi, a company executive, in the stomach after they had an argument. She then called her mother and told her what she had done. The mother called police.

Ikeda was taken to hospital where he died about four hours later.

Police said Junko was drunk at the time of her arrest and quoted her as saying she did not mean to kill her husband.

Don't blame it on the alcohol. Alcohol doesn't stab people in the stomach.

Well if you didn't mean to kill your husband then you shouldn't stab him. That's one of the likely outcomes. Knucklehead!

Why do you think alcohol is legal? Reason why police and hospitals have business.

Plenty of mothers get drunk all the time. Not sure what world some people live in. Many women are also bad wifes as you can see from this article.

Again Alcohol!

Again a knife! Again an argument! Again a spouse! Again night time! Again a hundred things we have not been told!

WOW women are learning quickly, blaming the alcohol as an excuse.

What? When has alcohol ever gotten anyone excused for murder for being drunk in Japan?!

WOW women are learning quickly, blaming the alcohol as an excuse. It is usually the men who said they killed their wives after a night of drinking.

Regarding the alcohol comments, this case seems a little different from the norm. Usually we hear of the accused saying, "I was drunk". Here the police are saying she was drunk when arrested. She may have been celebrating after the fact.

(Sorry, but I never quite understand the comments here with regard to the "I was drunk" statements released by the police. As far as I know, that is never used in court as a defense. I generally assume it is used as a way of not needing to answer police questions.)

I doubt there were children, but who knows. What mother has time to get drunk?
