Wait if I remember correctly, the boy died around Feb 20th so why can't he now be named, it won't affect his life at this point?

The young girl is know because the news gives her mother's name so figuring out her's isn't rocket science.

So the juvenile victim's ID is fine but not that of the dead perpetrator?

The logic is lost on me.

Terrible situation, the girl is going to need a lot of mental health support from now on because of the terrible actions of a boy. I hope she can soon recover from this at least partially.

Hokkaidoboy, completely agreed. Seems like every other day, there's another story about an ex-boyfriend/partner killing their ex-girlfriend/female partner. Frankly, tired of this endless cycle. And if the number of downvotes you got is any indication, there are quite a few people who seem perfectly okay with women being murdered like this, even during Women's History Month. A lot of people just don't want to hear the reality, because they either don't care or can't benefit from light being shed on it. For shame.

For other people complaining that there isn't enough information in the article, that's because there was a previous article back in February when the attack was originally announced. If you want details, you can easily find them there. But I find it strange that so many more people are concerned with the details of the case, rather than the fact that yet another ex-boyfriend decided to murder (in this case, the mother of his ex-partner).

By the way, agreed with zichi that if the girl's father is around, hopefully he can be there for her and be a support. Damn is she going to need it. Rest in peace to the mother, and I hope justice is served.

It’s pretty clear he went there with intent to kill her. It doesn’t seem like a random act. There must have been some trouble between them in the past. Perhaps it was the mother who stopped her daughter dating him. I guess we’ll never know. Very tragic incident.

He collapsed because he stabbed him self with his own knife.

And he wasn’t “on the job” or “in uniform”. He dressed up as a delivery man so the victim would be more likely to open the door, allowing him to attack. Or did you think someone had ordered a package of rope, mace, a stun gun, and a police baton?

The fact that she never regained consciousness is so tragic. That woman's last sight may he been that of the violent attack without knowing about her daughter's safety. Just days after Women's Day, I, as a 29-year-old male, feel disgusted.

Not that I perceive women as victims per se. But this cases involving "ex-s" are almost overwhelmingly males attacking females. A hard truth to recognise if we want to build a better society.

I am no judge; I just wish an appropriate punishment for the killer to give the daughter a bit of closure.

The mother got attacked on Valentine's day, and died before White Day, so not sure what you mean.

Police said Shuko Shibata, who suffered a fractured skull, never regained consciousness and died at around 2 p.m. on Saturday, Fuji TV reported.

When police arrived at the apartment, Shibata and the boy were found collapsed in the hallway. Both were taken to hospital where the boy died on Feb 19.

Why was HE collapsed?

Police said the boy was wearing a delivery worker's jacket and a cap and was carrying a cardboard box featuring the logo of a major courier company and a sticker with the name Shibata on it. Inside the box were a stun gun, pepper spray, handcuffs, rope and an expandable baton. A blood-stained survival knife was found in the apartment beside the boy.

So he had a job and was in uniform at the time.

not strange to think about her father. Why? Her parents may have never married or divorced or the father died. However, if he is around he could now be a comfort for his daughter.

This is about a woman who died, and the guy who did it.

Let me help you. Boy knocks on door. Lady opens door. Boy pushes his way inside. Boy beats up woman. Boy stabs himself. (Sometime during all this, Boy stabs self) (Sometime during all this girl goes to get neighbor) Boy dies. Woman dies.

 Shibata's daughter, 17, and the boy had been classmates in junior high school and had briefly dated.

So it should be safe to assume that he was 17 as well. So their "dating" history was at least 2 years ago, if not more, as at 17 they are in 2nd or soon to be 3rd year in high school.

There is plenty missing here to even think that after all that time he came after mom.

Where was the father.

Where were that loser's parents?

Did the parents have any clue about their daughter's ex?

What was the scuffle about? Did she dump him? Did the daughter's parents disallowed the relationship?
